Very interesting Holly interview. Many thanks to those at the Charmed Cafe in PrudenceHalliwell and Aaeiyn.
I'm not a member but browsed it as I do every once in a while. I ran into this and found it very interesting.

The member Aaeiyn was kind there to post a transcript of the juicy discussions. Most we did knew about, but Holly really was in depth about what likely happened. I've always taken what she said as fact due to being so close with Shannen. Why would she lie. It lines up with what she said way back in 2001. Interesting she struck a deal with Spelling to become a producer because she didn't want that to happen to her again.

Thank you, for posting this. It definitely answered a lot of questions, even though I already knew a lot of them based off of deductive reasoning. I went through this podcast, in order to get Time-Stamps, along with a little bit of a transcript-ish, for those interested.
46m20s - 46m22s
Interviewer: Do you still talk to her?
Holly: I do. I still talk to her, occasionally.
50m21s - 51m11s
Both Holly & the Interviewer discussing/revealing details about Shannen's condition.
53m58s - 54m04s
Interviewer: So, when she left, what did that do, to the dynamic?
Holly: It was a surprise to both of us.
54m08s - 54m13s
Holly: Shannen had asked out of her contract, December, the year before.
54m14s - 54m16s
Interviewer: Did you know, she was not happy?
Holly: Yeah.
54m17s - 54m19s
Holly: In the beginning, we all bonded, very well.
54m28s - 54m31s
Holly: The Network wasn't giving us our day, in court.
55m22s - 55m57s
Holly: We kind of already felt like we were already this step child/black sheep of the family, for some reason. We didn't know why, so we bonded over those first two years. We were struggling through changing producers, changing writers, the Network fighting our producers, them fighting for more money, but we had special effects, we had stunts, but we had this. It just became a grind and a factory, in the last year and the third year and the girls started to just go at it, and it was really difficult, and they really started to disagree on different things.
56m20s - 56m30s
Holly: It was a shock, when she had asked out, in December, they had told her, of that year, they had told her "no, you're under contract, you're not going, anywhere. Get over it", basically.
56m39s - 56m55s
Holly: They had actually hired a corporate mediator to work out our issues between the three of us. Like a corporate mediator that was like...they sent this person to like IBM, when the executives don't get along.
58m30s - 58m54s
Holly: At the end of that season, Shannen called me, in the middle of hiatus and was like "yep, I just got the phone call". But, it was the phone call she was waiting for, back in December, so it's kind of like "really"..."now"? I guess it was more financially feasible for them to let her go at the end of the season, then it was at the middle of the season. Like, it was very calculated and not handled well, whatsoever.
59m00s - 59m34s
Holly: At the time, I took it very personally. I was really pissed I wasn't involved in this decision making process because the show I signed onto to do was with Shannen. So, I went into the office and said "this is not the show I signed up to do, anymore. So, I should be able to go, too." Right? I should be able to be "let go", too! And they said in no uncertain terms that if I was to try to leave, I would be sued.
Interviewer: Because you were under contract.
Holly: Mhmm.
1hr03m19s - 1hr03m47s
Interviewer: She's (regarding Rose) coming into a family that's already, you know, an existed family, with its own problems, as every family has, its ups and downs, was that an easy adjustment, do you think, for you? Or, was that hard?
Holly: Oh no, it was super hard. With Shannen leaving, it was emotional...
Interviewer: (interjects) 'Cause you were friends.
Holly: ...for me and emotional for her just because of the unexpected way it was done. She directed her last episode.
Interviewer: I did not know that!
Holly: She, literally, directed her own death.
1hr03m53s - 1hr04m06s
Holly: So, to carry on from that was really difficult, for me. That's when, later on, I struck a deal with Spelling to become a producer because that's not gonna happen, to me, again.
