I can definitely see your point there. They make Paige the defacto antagonist for Cole and it didn't come off as natural as it did with Prue. Prue's issues with Cole stemmed from her overprotective nature while Paige's seemingly came out of Kern's warped morality regarding good and evil. Fully agreed. This is a big reason why I preferred how the Cole storyline was handled in S3. It re-ignited the overprotective Prue/rebellious Phoebe tensions the show had been playing with ever since the first episode, so it was a natural direction for the show to go in (especially after "Pardon My Past" from S2 had already played around with the idea of Phoebe falling for a demon). Completely agree with you regarding Rose McGowan too. Sadly, she was an incredibly limited actress, particularly in comparison to Shannen Doherty. I too would love to have seen what Doherty could have done with that material. She was only cast because Tiffani Thiessen and Jennifer Love Hewitt both turned the role down, and she needed work after The Monster iced her out of film roles. She was never that invested in the character or the show, and she lacked the chops to pull off heavier drama. Rose was best in "mean girl" roles like Tatum Riley and Courtney Alice Shayne that didn't require her to stray too far from her comfort zone. (And, I'm going to try to refrain from going off on what an awful person Rose has become in recent years, because character /= actor, but if you dare, you can read about the nonsense she's been spewing on Twitter here and here. Sad to watch.)

Another thing we can blame Kernus for wrecking.
I remember coming across CRR some years back and was sad to see it end. Wasn't Jackie AKA AssassinWitch also involved in that, or am I thinking of someone else.

Yeah I feel similarly to Betty. A few years ago I started a fanfic project where the goal was to rewrite seaons 4 and 5 but with Prue, and wrap the story up how I believe it should have been with the original P3 intact (not that I hated Paige or anything, she was about the only thing in the show still watchable by season 8 imo). And once all the stuff came out about how badly they were treated by Kern it basically killed any motivation I had to continue, I still have love for the show and the memories I have of it growing up, but I struggle to watch it now knowing what they had to face. A shame too because I had most of it planned out, in fact most of was written and ready to go, I had already posted about a season and a half and had gotten some really nice reviews from other fans....but I just couldn't continue. That's sad to hear, Adam. It's hard enough to get fanfics completed as it is, so all of that Kernus stuff had to have been a real motivation killer. Maybe, this will change as time goes on, and we get further away from the #MeToo reveals. I try to separate the man from the art as much as possible. Particularly in this case because so my work went into the show from so many talented people and I can attribute to the good stuff to others and the bad stuff I can just blame on Kern. It went down hill in Season 5, of course it did, but I still try to enjoy the series when I can. I guess, for me, it's way harder to separate the man from the art when we got sooo many episodes like the mermaid, Valkyries, Lady Godiva, etc, that were little more than Kernus trying to show off the sisters' bodies. Meanwhile, the heavier storylines started going to Leo (S6/early S7 being the worst offenders), and the sisters started playing secondary roles in their own show. No doubt a product of Kernus' attitude towards women. Interestingly, I've just started a rewrite myself. Obviously I did the Season 4 angle with CRR and while we had some great ideas there, I'd have done it very differently now. This time around, I've taken myself back to Season 1 and started again so I can have greater control over the lore of the show. There were so many fantastic ideas in Charmed and there was so much potential to do some really interesting things with the mythos of the show but in my opinion, they kind of screwed it up before they even started. While Connie was right to focus on the sisters, ignoring the wider universe it self caused the series to blindly walking into so many inconsistencies, inaccurate representations of mythology and poorly developed concepts. Now, looking back, it does leave a slightly bitter taste in my mouth because I can only wonder what could have been. Interesting point. I think the show was originally conceived as a normal drama about three sisters, and it was the WB that insisted on it being a show about sister witches (to cash in on Buffy's success and the post-Craft witch revival). So, it makes since that Connie probably never had a good grasp on the show's larger mythology. She treated the series as something more like her earlier WB show, Savannah, rather than a genre show.

Just a thought today about the series. If they wanted a younger sibling to appear in charmed, they could have done a younger sister, instead of having the younger brother, Chris. But maybe doing the daughter would spoil it, obviously that it is one of piper's and leo's child, as they saw it in another future.

I don't think a sister would have gotten the fan attention that Chris did.

I don't think a sister would have gotten the fan attention that Chris did. They should've just let Wyatt be Melinda like in that future and gone with a brother/sister dynamic. It didn't have to be one of the other sisters or brothers.

anyone hear stories or rumors on why they went the first born boy route, instead of sticking with what was seen in the that alternate future.

I haven't.
Of course, this happened after Kernus had seized power and given his 1950's style thinking, I'm surprised this happened.
