There is a Luke Perry sized hole in this.
Seriously, you would have thought his death meant the end of this thing. How are they going to address it, as the article says.

Tell me about it. This thing is supposed to be an exaggerated self-parody. How is it even remotely possible to fit somebody's very real and very tragic death into that? This just angers me more and more. There's no 90210 without Dylan.

I have no idea. I read an article where this was brought up but the cast just went they choose to not discuss that, but it was on their minds with his passing.

They can't.
This project was ill conceived from Day One. Once Luke died, it should have been cancelled.
How can these people, all of whom were devastated by Luke's passing, come in and laugh at themselves now.

Dylan was practically a lead character right alongside the Walshes in the early seasons. He was a HUGE part of the twins' storylines, as well as Kelly's. Even if this reboot's just a parody, what is there to parody without Dylan? The bland, forgettable pilot where Dylan didn't exist? Or, the even more forgettable Dylan-less college seasons?

There is no way to ignore this. As you said, Dylan was a huge part of the show. Are they just going to pretend he never existed. With the fans, that will go over like a lead balloon, IMO.

They MIGHT have been able to get away with it had Shannen not returned since the other characters all had storylines and relationships separate from Dylan, but that's soooo not the case for Brenda. Outside of the pilot, she was never on the show at a time when Dylan wasn't, and Dylan was a HUGE part of her story. He was the only real love interest she ever had, and even when they weren't together, he was still a major part of her storylines, whether it be the Triangle from S3 or their friendship from S4. It's not an accident that Brenda's last scene ever in the entire show was with, you guessed it, Dylan. You can't tell Brenda's story without Dylan. Not even in parody form.

I do wonder, if Perry was still with us, if Shannen would have still joined, they say Perry's passing was what convinced her to do it, but I wonder if she didn't want to do it, worried they'd screw Dylan/Brenda over. Again, all the stars are producers of this series. So I'm sure Shannen will try to honour Perry as best she can. Makes me wonder, if Shannen wasn't busy directing 'Be Careful What You Witch For' on Charmed, if she had returned for the finale, and what they'd have done with Brenda/Dylan. I wonder if this show is ignoring 90210 with what they did with Brenda, Kelly and Donna?

Basically, what this thing is going to be is a reality show, like the shows that Tori made with her husband and kids. I guess she needs the money, since she doesn't have daddy to get her work anymore.
What are all the others excuses though?
Why they all just didn't walk away when Luke died, I have no idea.

Luke was very dear to her, and she thinks she can honor him by joining this "reboot" thing. But, there has to be some other way. Why can't we get some 90210 comics, instead? That way, we could continue Dylan's story and get our Brenda/Dylan reconciliation without Luke being there. We could have all of the original gang together again, even if it was only in comic form. (Plus, the comic medium is all about reboots and retcons, so they could easily scrap the later seasons and the CW show. Like, do a reboot of post-S4 with Brenda never leaving and no Valerie/Noah/Gina/etc.)

Even a novel series too could be great.

Gotta say, that Shannen looks fantastic. For someone who had cancer, she looks much better than her other cast members. I'm glad Shannen is healthy again and happy.
