I tend to go on binges where I listen to an artist or a genre a lot for an extended period of time, right now I'm listening and watching a lot if DVDs of a lot of 70s British rock. I'll go on a long binge of hearing The Beatles, or jazz, or indie rock, or whatever catches my fancy. It can drive my family crazy if I listen to a lot of heavy stuff, but in the moment that's what I like. The previous binge was 60s music and before that was indie pop, does this happen to anyone?

Yes, I've done that myself.
I tend to go on binges of 80's music, because that was my youth.

I tend to go on binges of 80's music, because that was my youth. I was a kid in the 80s but I didn't listen to 80s music as a kid, I grew up hearing 60s and 70s music because of my Dad. It reminds me of being a kid, I didn't listen to ordinary children's music. I've watched concert DVDs of Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and other 70s groups lately and the musicianship of these bands was amazing, bands were very talented

Well, I was in my teens when the 80's dawned, so I gravitated towards the music that was popular then.
More than 30 years later, I still love that music.

I was a teen in the mid-90s and I still like 90s alternative music, especially grunge and some of the odd one-hit wonders from that era. I went to a high school where everyone listened to rap so that made me popular *rolls eyes* I got worse when I got into metal and punk later, the other kids were either into rap or boy bands 😣

Ugh, rap, I hate that stuff.
I was alive when it first reared it's ugly head, back in the late 80's. Didn't like it then, don't like it now.

Same here, rap might be the worst stuff ever. Dad used to joke that in the 70s they prayed to get rid of disco but instead got rap. Much of my favorite music is old or sounds old, in my stories the music characters like gives clues to their personalities. For example in My Favorite Things Jack and Pierre like jazz because as older guys I thought they wouldn't be Beatles fans. Until they did stuff like Revolver and Sgt Pepper, most adults didn't like the Beatles.

I listen to anything which grabs me.
If I nod my head you know I like the music though opera doesn't really appeal to me.

My collection might stop around 2003. Now I mainly download and then only music I liked back in the 1980ies and some 90ies, but definitely more oldies like ABBA, Beatles, Bee Gees.

I have some Beatles in my collection too.
Guess some classics never go out of style.

Like Jana my mums the same. She'll binge listen to ABBA and The Bee Gees her favorite bands growing up.
She listens to Cliff Richard too. Her favorite male artist growing up.
Mum's CD collection consists of 60's and 70's artists with some 80's thrown in.
In terms of the 90's she only has a few CD's consisting mainly albums from The Corrs who she likes.
No CD's from the noughties however. Any music mum likes now is downloaded and stuck on her micro sd card.

I don't have much from the 90's either.
Never got into that grunge stuff.

I've never heard of these groups myself.
