The problem was that the Dark Knight trilogy was a big hit, so they figured what worked for Batman would work for Superman.
They were wrong. Superman was never meant to be dark and brooding like Batman is.
Thankfully, Tyler's incarnation harks back to the light Superman of my youth.

That makes sense, and they were dead wrong here. I'm so very glad Tyler has managed to make my childhood hero, fun again. He is actually the right take on Superman. And clearly, they know they failed, since they any new films are dead in the water now. Thank god.

Yeah, with a few exceptions (Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Shazam!) the DC movies have been flops.
Stick to TV, DC, that's where your success lies.

I have to agree with that. And this decade will be a pleasure for a new Superman series. Come back in another 15 years with a new movie, but for now, television is where it is working for Superman.

He brings the right feelings to the role. It won't be all dark, like it was with Henry Cavill. Thank god, that isn't the Superman I like. Batman dark, sure. Superman, big fat NO. Yeah, agreed.

Yeah, I enjoyed Aquaman and Wonder Woman, and even Birds of Prey. So good to see DC going well on TV. I have to agree with that. And this decade will be a pleasure for a new Superman series. Come back in another 15 years with a new movie, but for now, television is where it is working for Superman. It will be. Yeah, they should get the hint, and rest the Superman movies for another decade. But, sadly the New Batman movie rebooted AGAIN, is happening with Robert Pattison (Twilight) as Batman. Yet, we still haven't got a single Batman show in 50 years. At this rate, I'll be 70 when it happens.

Superman is meant to be someone light-hearted, cheeky, clumsy as Clark Kent and also funny who radiates hope and brings out the best in people inspiring them to be anything which Tyler like Chris Reeves has captured on his time in Supergirl and hopefully will continue doing so in his own show October time.

DC is doing great on television with the CW. Leave the movies to Marvel.

They did so wrong by Henry Cavill, good actor, looked like Superman, but writing screwed him, the movies looked great visually, but he wasn't acting as Superman, and that totally isn't his fault. I remember seeing an interview of his where he is disappointed he doesn't get to act more like the Superman from the comics. And now it seems he's retired from the role altogether.

I agree. They just didn't give him good scripts.

Well said. So true. I have to agree with that. And this decade will be a pleasure for a new Superman series. They sure are doing well. Yeah, it isn't his fault. Although he looked great, and they had great effects, it was just a bad script from the start. I guess, he didn't get much of a chance to showcase more, since after the origin movie they jumped straight to Superman vs. Batman and then Justice League. Leaving little room for them, to do a proper sequel. But, too bad. They tried to capture on the success of the Dark Knight, and failed. Superman isn't meant to be dark. They did so wrong by Henry Cavill, good actor, looked like Superman, but writing screwed him, the movies looked great visually, but he wasn't acting as Superman, and that totally isn't his fault. It was a poor script. As much as it had great visuals, half the movie was taken up just by the fight scenes. It's too bad, they didn't hold off Superman vs Batman and Justice League, and do a proper sequel movie that had him being closer to the Superman from the comics, and did a good plot and showcased Clark and the Daily Planet more, and maybe let Lex (with a better actor) as the villain. But too bad, I'm just glad I have Superman and Lois now on the CW. I'm fine.

The DCEU has been more disappointments than success.
As I said, they could stick to TV.

Yet, we still haven't got a single Batman show in 50 years. At this rate, I'll be 70 when it happens. Not again, seriously Robert Pattison as Batman. Granted, I've never seen him in much, I'm sure he's better than Twilight. But, I sure do hope, I'm alive to see a new Batman series, or any at all in my lifetime. Wasn't he just perfect to capture the essence of Chris Reeves. They really did wrong with the script didn't they. I feel bad for the guy in a way, because I know how much he researched the comics. I don't know what the writers and producers were thinking with that script. The DCEU has been more disappointments than success.
As I said, they could stick to TV.
They should. The only success they have seen is with the Wonder Woman and Birds of Prey or Harley Quinn. I do think Harley Quinn was written well on the big screen, they got her right, but helps they had a good actress in the part. Feels like the success with DCEU, has been their female characters not their male ones (e.g Superman, Batman (although he is getting rebooted again).

Aquaman and Shazam! also did well. Note both those films were much more light hearted.

I like more light heart stuff, it's nice to kick back and come out of a movie feeling good, not depressed. Trying to make Superman into a Batman dark film doesn't work.

Considering how Man Of Steel and Batman Vs Superman did it's understandable Henry didn't wanna play Superman again.
In terms of Batman films, I loved the Dark Knight trilogy and Tim Burton's ones which were meant to be dark like the character and city. Forever was okay but slightly campy. The only good thing out of that was Jim Carrey as Ridler and Batman and Robin was just plain err but watchable film if bored then.
