The only state I know of is Florida because I vacationed in Orlando with my mum and dad then when I was 11 in 1991 and went to Disney World my favourite holiday to this day.
We stayed in a hotel on International Drive which was a long stretch of road if I remember rightly that's now under a new name and there was an open-spaced shopping centre across the road called the Macardo Center which had restaurants shops and evening entertainment that we visited regularly.
The hotel had a wonderful jacuzzi that was hot every time I stepped in it.
That time was the first I know of Mickey Mouses's Club House.
My favourite Disney rides were Star Tours, Back To The Future, and ET ride.
There was an independent restaurant called Darryl's we went twice to which was mum's favourite place and a chained one called Friday's in the opposite direction also.
Other than visiting the Disney theme parks, Cape Kennedy, and SeaWorld also although Animal Kingdom hadn't opened up then my mum, dad, and I visited an indoor shopping center downtown International Drive and a waterpark in Kissimmee and not the Wet And Wild one down the road from our hotel because I stole $5 from my mum to play on the hotel's slot machine so the lesser big water park was my punishment of course.
The big area known as Downtown Disney wasn't around then either.
My dad booked the hotel directly which was cheaper and included a free shuttle bus to Disney theme parks otherwise we tooked a small limo type taxi service normally driven by a colour guy although I forget his name to SeaWorld, Cape Kennedy, Kissimmee water park and a country western type show place for my parents who were country western fans at the time.
Dad filmed a video of our holiday which we kept years afterwards as well as take lots of photos of our camera too.
When we got back Dad and I made a scrap book of our trip with all the leaflets we got from the parks though even being there a fortnight we hadn't seen the whole of International Drive and I had an autograph book with quite a lot of Disney character signatures in there.

The only ones I traveled to on two trips to America in the past five years are LA, New York, and Orlando.
I too have been to Disney World and also Universal. I really enjoyed both theme parks. I think I loved Universal more, because of Harry Potter land, which I went to the park over two days since the HP land is so huge, it will take ages to see everything. I liked Animal Kingdon.
As for New York, my opinion changed, from not being too high on it, to loving it. Especially their subway system, was so easy to get around to everywhere.
I feel like I liked New York more than LA, as LA was too spread out, trying to get around to see everything, why I liked New York, I was in good distance to see all the main attractions.

I actually lived in Orlando for several years in the early 2000s and I’m familiar with International Drive. It’s still called that and it has a lot of stores, chain restaurants and all sorts of attractions, unfortunately Wet N’Wild went out of business and so did Downtown Disney when I was there this summer. Orlando attracts lots of tourists from all over but where I lived was far out into the suburbs where one doesn’t see tourists, I was living with my Dad and grandparents. Downtown Disney had to close because the clubs were attracting gangs and they were harassing the other customers.

I actually live a short bus ride away from NYC, on the opposite side of the Hudson River. I love going to the city, especially to the museums and shows. I’ve never been to LA but I’ve been to San Diego when my brother was stationed there, it’s gorgeous but he didn’t want to go anywhere, Mom and I had to go by ourselves. We saw La Jolla, Balboa Park, Coronado Beach and Downtown by the baseball stadium

PS, the way this works is to see what people know about the states from TV, films, books, or personal experiences. I’m curious to see how on-Americans perceive my country, for good or bad

I found that history interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, I went to Trump Towers, and no Trump was not here at the time haha. LOL
I also paid for a private tour of the whole city which was 6 hours, but I really enjoyed it. Although, I got a discount on it.

I know California mainly for San Francisco which was where Charmed, the Streets Of San Francisco which starred a young Michael Douglas and Ironside were set.
The city looks so lovely from the clips Charmed showed after the credits.
My mum and I would visit there but it's too expensive and a 13-hour flight which we wouldn't like although San Diego or San Jose are cheap places to stay with trains and buses reasonably priced to get to the City By The Bay.

I live in New Jersey and the states I’ve been to are New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North and South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Illinois, Texas, California and Hawaii. However, some of the these we either drove straight on through or changed planes at the airport😊
I’ve been to NYC many times and driven through upstate New York en route to Canada, the drive from Albany to Montreal is scenic with the Adirondack mountains and the lakes but from Albany to Buffalo is just farms, especially boring in the winter with all the animals indoors and the crops all harvested. In the city I’ve been to museums seen games at Yankee Stadium and Madison Square Garden or visited friends in the outer boroughs.
Pennsylvania has the Pocono mountains with lots of resorts and a huge outlet mall where my family goes shopping, plus an amazing Italian restaurant in a strip mall that has got the best veal scallopini ever 😛 Plus we’ve also been to Hershey to shop at an outlet but we couldn’t see Hershey Park because it was closed for the season.
My brother lives in Virginia, when he attended Navy school he lived in Dahlgren across the Potomac from Maryland and now lives in Fredericksburg. We regularly visit since it’s only a six hour drive and he has a big house, living by himself with two dogs. The town itself is just a series of strip malls and shopping centers, there’s a sort of irony that both Jefferson Davis Highway and Robert E Lee Parkway have nothing but strip malls and used car lots 😆 There’s lots of Civil War battlefields in the area which saw very bad fighting and are now big national parks.
Florida is weird, my Dad’s family lives in Orlando and Mom’s family in Miami. Even when I lived in Orlando I didn’t go to the theme parks, I hate waiting in line, crowds, lots of kids, heat and humidity and the theme parks have all of those during the summer which is when we went, in addition to being expensive. I actually like the attractions in Kissimmee better, they have an old time amusement park and a street with lots of kitschy shops selling candy and photos where you dress up as a cowboy 😜 Miami sucks, too much heat and humidity, bugs, traffic, and the only nice areas are where the tourists go. Miami Beach and the waterfront are all rich white people, where my grandma lives is far more working class and virtually all Latin American, Miami Beach or any beach might well be on Mars. So Miami isn’t as glamorous as you think.

Nope, went by Greyhound.
It was on that same trip that I went swimming in Phoenix, Arizona. Don't need a towel, you get out of the pool, and you're dry in three seconds flat.

Wow, props to you😘 My family once took a Greyhound to Miami when I was ten and that sucked, it was in the summer and the air conditioning was on full blast so it was freezing. Plus the bus had a lot of old people and little TV screens only showed reruns of Matlock and Gunsmoke on VHS on repeat, the driver just changed tapes at every stop. I couldn’t sleep since it was so cold and it was boring, I wouldn’t mind taking a Greyhound to Boston or DC, but not California
