Chapter 106
March, 1746
"Bridget, you don't have to do that", Dave chided gently.
She put down the sewing she was working on, a gleam in her blue eyes. "Thank you for your concern, but I am not a doll. Sewing will not harm the baby", she said, putting a hand on her enormously pregnant belly.
Dave blushed. "Sorry, I don't have much experience with pregnant chicks. I don't want you to do too much work. You need save your strength for the baby", he said.
"Dave, Bridget is right. Men, they think they know everything about babies, yet they cannot bear them", chuckled Violet, a hand on her slightly rounded belly.
"Damn, I'm surrounded by pregnant chicks. Karlsson is having another kid, and so is Kurt. And Sean and Sonja only been married for two months, and she's pregnant too. Maybe all the hormones are rubbing off on me", he cracked.
"Yeah Maxwell, I know. But we got less than two months to go. Hopefully we can go back", he said, a hint of reluctance in his voice.
"I understand. It might be difficult for you to adjust to your own time, but it will be harder for us", said Violet thoughtfully.
"Yeah, and I wonder if anyone notices we're gone, or if they missed us", said Axel.
"They oughtta, but I hope the FBI doesn't get involved. Then they'll stick us in Area 51 or Hangar 18 with all the aliens", joked Dave.
"Cool, I wanna see if the aliens are real", said Cliff, entering the room.
"What is Area 51 and Hangar 18?", asked Bridget, puzzled.
"Area 51 is government property in the desert, that's where the government keeps aliens and shit. Hangar 18 is where they keep the Roswell aliens and their spaceship. Some aliens landed in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947, and the government keeps 'em hidden there so people don't freak out", explained Cliff.
"Very interesting, Herr Butler. And how are you, Bridget?", asked Lachlan, smiling at his daughter.
She beamed, her cheeks flushed pink. "I am fine, Papa. I cannot wait for the baby to be born", she giggled.
"Good. Dave, you promise you will take good care of my daughter and my grandchild?", he asked, looking him straight in the eye.
Dave met his gaze without flinching. "I will, sir. I love your daughter, and I will never hurt her", he said solemnly.
Bridget smiled at her father and lover. Just then, she felt a twinge of pain in her belly. She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. The pain came again, rending her breathless.
"Bridget, you okay?", asked Dave, concerned.
She nodded, only for another pain to strike. Clear fluid flowed down her legs, as the pain bent her double.
"Shit! She's having the baby!", he yelled.

Chapter 107
"Dave, help me take her to the room. Axel, tell the other women to boil water and clean sheets", ordered Violet.
Violet and Dave helped her onto the bed. Bridget moaned softly, as another contraction hit. "You're gonna be okay, right? She's gonna be okay, right?", he babbled.
"Dave, I will do my best. Women birth babies all the time. I know that already. Annie taught me well. Go with the other men", she said.
"We are boiling the water, Violet. How are you doing, Bridget?", asked Jeanie.
Bridget tried to smile, but could only wince. "It hurts, I hoe the little bugger is born soon", she muttered.
"I ken. How long do you think it shall take?", she asked Violet.
"I am not sure. Sometimes it is quick and sometimes it is a long time. I myself was in labor for hours", she replied.
"Where is the baby?", demanded Annaly, followed by Amy.
"It is not born yet, Annaly. Besides, you are too young for this", chided Violet.
"Yeah, you don't wanna see this. Why don't I tell you a scary story", said Dave, leading her out of the room.
"Good, it is not for children. Let me examine you", said Violet, lifting the sheets and examining her body.
"You are doing fine, Bridget. It will take a while, though. I will be here if you need me", said Violet.
Mary and Morag entered the room, clutching clean sheets. "Here are the sheets for the birth. Ye'll do fine, Miss Bridget. Just tell Dave not to be so randy", joked Morag.
Bridget smiled in spite of her pain. "Ja, I will tell him. But if I survive this, I will be just as randy for him", she giggled.
"For shame, Morag, talking about such things while in childbirth. Ye have a dirty mind", said Jeanie, her blue eyes twinkling with mirth.
"But Cliff doesna mind, he's got an equally dirty mind", she retorted.
Several hours later, Bridget was still in labor. She was sweaty and tired, the contractions more and more painful.
"You are fully dilated. The babe will be born shortly. Jeanie, go and find Dave and bring him here", said Violet.
She arrived several minutes later with Dave in tow. His red hair was tousled about his face, as though he kept running a hand through it.
"What is it?", he asked, trying to keep the fear out of his voice.
"The babe will be born shortly. Go wash your hands in the basin, Axel said it prevents infection", said Violet.
Dave washed his hands in the wooden basin, drying his hands with a towel. He walked over to the be, his heart pounding in his chest.
"The babe is crowning. Push hard, Bridget", ordered Violet.
Bridget took a deep breath, as a baby's cry filled the air. Dave couldn't help but smile, relieved the baby was born. Violet cut the cord, as she expelled the placenta, sighing in relief.
"Dave, Bridget, you have a healthy baby boy", said Violet, as she washed the baby and wrapped him in a blanket, placing him in his mother's arms.
The baby cried lustily, his little face red from crying. Bridget put him to her breast, as he began to nurse.
"Hush, boyo", she murmured, stroking his red curls.
"He's beautiful", he whispered.
"Ja, and he has red hair, like you. He is your son", she giggled.
The baby finished nursing and looked at his parents with wide blue eyes. "Hey there, little dude. I'm your daddy, and this is your beautiful mother", he whispered.
The rest of the group, along with Lachlan and Inga entered the room. "Bridget, are you all right, and how is the babe?", he asked.
"I am fine, Papa. And this is your grandson", she said.
"Ja, he is very handsome, is he not?", said Inga, wiping away a tear.
"Yeah, congratulations, Maxwell. Cute kid, looks just like you", said James.
"I second that. What are you gonna call him?", asked Kurt.
"My grandfather on Mama's side was named Anders", said Bridget.
"And my grandpa was named Patrick", said Dave.
"Our son's name is Anders Patrick Maxwell ", she said.

Chapter 108
Dave and Bridget lay in bed, both of them still wide awake. It was right before their departure, and everyone was anxious and on edge.
"Tomorrow night, we may be back in LA, back in the 21st century. This has been so fucked up, I hope the FBI doesn't get us", he joked weakly.
"Dave, do not say such things. I am not sure what this FBI is, but I do not like it. Try to relax", she whispered.
The door opened and James walked in. "Can't sleep either?", he asked.
"Yeah, James. I'm too anxious. I mean, what if something happens to us or the kids. And I'm gonna miss the hell out of Annaly and Daniel and Leif", said Dave.
"Yeah, I know. At least Sean's married and gonna be a daddy and Leif's not far behind. Did you teach that little bastard to score with chicks?", he teased.
"Yeah, he's just like Junior. I miss the hell out of that little farmboy. He must be freaking out worse than when we went to South Central to buy pot", joked Dave.
"Very interesting, Dave. And I would like to meet your family. Your mother and sisters sound like wonderful people", said Bridget.
"They are, Mom's been on my ass to find a nice girl and she'd be thrilled to see Anders. He'll be her first grandson, my sisters all have daughters", said Dave.
"That's great, dude. I only have my sister, and she lives in Ohio with her husband. We were never that close, but I'll try to get in contact, she'll want to see her niece and nephew", said James thoughtfully.
"And Kurt’s mom is gonna be super thrilled to find out he's married with a kid. She's pestering him for grandchildren too, eh?", he joked.
"Yeah, Hamster's mom wants her little Kurt Lee to get married. She'll like Mary, if he brought home a stripper, then she'll freak. Mrs. Holmes rules", said James.
"That's Kurt’s mom. I remember I met her, she was nice to me, even though I was drunk", he said quietly.
"Are the children all right?", asked Bridget.
"Yeah, Jeanie's in the nursery with them. If there anything wrong, she'll call us. Then again, I don't have to feed them. Luckily they're weaned, I don't want to share with my kids", James chuckled suggestively.
"James, you dirty dog. And in front of a lady. Where are your manners?", joked Dave.
"Hey, very funny. Well, I'll see if I can get some sleep. Good night, guys", he said, leaving the room.

Chapter 109
The morning of their departure dawned brilliantly. It was a clear, yet chilly spring day, the sun shining brilliantly over the Norwegian landscape.
Everyone was on edge, knowing this was the last day they would spend here. Annaly was both excited and sad. She knew deep in her heart she would never seen Dave, Bridget, Anders or the others again.
"Annaly, I knew ye shall never see them again. I ken, but you cannot go with them", murmured Daniel.
"I know, Papa. But I like Dave, he is like an uncle", she whispered.
Daniel embraced his daughter. "I understand. Dave has become like an uncle to you. But he and Bridget are going back to his own time", he replied.
The rest of the group and their families were busy making preparations. It was decided that they would only bring the barest amount of luggage, thinking that they did not need excess baggage.
Violet and Tarja were in the kitchen, drinking tea. Tarja looked at her daughter, feeling both sad and excited. I have only known my daughter for several months, and we have to part. I am too old to make this journey, she mused.
"I am going to miss you, Mama. But perhaps it is for the best. If what Lars tell me, you may have trouble adjusting to the 20th century", said Violet.
"I know. I am too old to make such a journey anyway. I am going to miss you and my granddaughter, and even that husband of yours. Lars is a little imp, but he has a good heart", she chuckled.
"I know, that's why I married him", said Violet dryly.
"How are three of my favorite ladies doing?", asked Axel, embracing Violet and Beatrice.
"We are fine. Beatrice is really going to miss her grandmother", said Violet.
Axel took his daughter into his arms, looking down at her. Beatrice giggled, her green eyes sparkling with mischief. "You are going to meet your Danish grandparents, Beatrice. Mom and Dad are going to be so thrilled", he chuckled.
It was finally time. The group, Dave, and their families were gathered outside on the front lawn. The early evening sky overhead glowed red, the blue moon rising.
Bridget embraced her parents and Sean, tears in her eyes. "I will miss you all. Je vous amie, je dois partir", she murmured.
"We will miss you as well, Bridget. You, Dave, and Anders will always be in our prayers", said Inga.
"And Sean, be a good husband to Sonja and a father to your child", she chided.
"I know, Bridget", he said.
"I'm gonna miss you, Junior. It'll fuck up space-time continuum if I take you with me. I hope you and Greta get married and have a lot of kids and you get to travel a bit. Heck, maybe you'll start your own band", said Dave.
"I know, Dave", said Leif, embracing him.
Violet cleared her throat, taking out the pendants. She handed one to Dave, as they all gathered in a circle.
A chill went down her spine, a frission of excitement in the air. The hairs on the back of their necks stood on end, their hearts pounding in anticipation.
"Everyone, join together and hold hands, especially the children's", she commanded.
Everyone got in a circle, holding tight to the children. Violet took the pendant from Dave and fitted them together.
A golden light gleamed from the pendants, the heat radiating from it. They all held tightly to each other, the golden light reaching out to envelop them. Tongues of golden flame went over their heads like a canopy, a blinding white light coming from inside the circle. The onlookders shielded their eyes from the light, as they cringed.
The light disappeared and they looked up, astonished. They were all gone, nothing but the grass rustling in the breeze. There were no indications there were here, no burn marks or even trampled grass.
"They are really gone", murmured Sean.
"Aye, I see that", replied Daniel, still in shock.
"I hope they have gone back to their own time, and are safe", said Lachlan, as everyone headed back to the house.

Chapter 110
Meanwhile in Scotland, 1989
The Druids were gathered around the sacred stone, ready to perform the ritual. The TV cameras were trained on them, with more scrutiny than before.
Ever since the people had disappeared four years ago, the pressure had been on them to bring them back. There was outrage that people could just disappear off the face off the earth, and much negative publicity in the media.
"I hope those people finally come back. We should have never asked for volunteers", grumbled Master Gordon.
"Aye, but it is all in the past. I do wonder what became of them, though", said Alan Murray, his assistant.
Master Gordeon faced the crowd. He was resplended in his ceremonial robes, his long beard and hair almost as white as his robes.
"Tonight, since the sky is red and the moon blue, we shall try to summon the people who went through", he said.
Brian Slagel stood in the crowd, a feeling of anticipation washing over him. He'd been worried sick the last few years, wondering where in the hell they went.
I really hope they come back. What in the hell happened to them? Whose brilliant idea was that? I don't know whether I wanna hug them or throttle them, he thought.
The Druids started chanting, as a faint mist came from within the circle. The crowed murmured, feeling that something was about to happen. A canopy of flames enveloped the stones, as several people shrieked in terror.
The mists parted and the flames extinguished, revealing a group of people inside the circle. The crowd murmured loudly, trying to make sense of it.
The group consisted of five men, five women and seven children. The men were jeans, t-shirts and had long hair, while the women wore simple peasant dresses. One of the babies began to cry, as their mother soothed them.
"What is this? Who are you?", asked Master Gordon.
"Dude, don't you recognize us? We're the guys you zapped and these are our wives and children. I don't know whether to praise you or kick your ass", said Axel.
The group emerged from the circle, as the cameras were trained on them. The cameramen did not leave them out of sight for a moment, knowing this was the footage of a lifetime.
Several of the children cling fearfully to their mothers, afraid of the cameras. Brian couldn't help but smile in delight. It's t hem, it's really them, he thought ecstatically, rushing over to them.
"Brian! Great to see you, man!", shouted James, embracing him.
"Yeah, finally. You guys got a lot of explaining to do. Maxwell, you were back there too?", he asked.
"Yeah, dude. It's a helluva long story", he chuckled weakly.
"We can discuss this over a beer. Or a lot of beers, you wouldn't believe it otherwise", said Cliff.
"Well, we got a lot of catching up to do. And you can introduce me to your lovely wives and children", said Brian.
"Everybody, go home, nothing to see here", said Kurt, as the people continued to stare at them.
"Come on, we got a lot of explaining to do", said James, as Brian led them back to the hotel.
