‘Bad Bargain' (A Sunday Book review) Set during during early season 2. The events of this story take place before the episode "The Dark Age", when Jenny and Giles give a break in their relationship. In this novel, It is time to raise money for the band (the year before the band candy incident). The school is holding a rummage sale and a lot of the students are forced to help out. Unfortunately the donations were stored in the basement right by the Hellmouth itself. However the seal on the Hellmouth has developed some minor cracks. They have infected the donated items and the items are infecting people handling them. Once the rummage sale begins, people seem to be strangely affected by the items they're buying, and Willow, Xander and Buffy's mother are all acting weird. The situation quickly spins out of control, and the school has to be quarantined, leaving Buffy and Giles to sort things out. I really loved that this novel was when Angel is not bad, Jenny is still around, and Spike and Drusilla are still the major villains at this point in time. What I loved the best was this novel foreshadowing things to come. Jonathan and Andrew appear, while the Mayor's darker dealings are hinted at, and we even Oz has noticed Willow but she doesn't know it yet. All of the foreshadowing of future episodes is clever and well done. Very well done and fun story. Sunday's Rating: 4.5/5 stakes Another great review. I like that this novel really sets the story nicely with where it is set. I love that it has nods to what comes, with Jonathan and Andrew, but it helps that this was written after the show ended. These remind me of my old Charmed book reviews. You'll find them in the Book Chat forum. I'll have to look at them. I know, very well done story. Diana G. Gallagher wrote a good one.

Can't wait for the next one Sunday, when you are ready, no rush.
I used to love the Watchers Guide Books.

Great reviews Sunday. I do have some of these novels myself. I haven't read them in years and a number of the companion guide books too.

Great reviews Sunday. I do have some of these novels myself. I haven't read them in years and a number of the companion guide books too. That must be the Watchers Guide that Kyle mentioned having had.
I don't own those sadly. But I heard so many good things about them.

Did Paul Ruditis write any Buffy novels? He wrote a short story in one novel called "The Show Must Go On", but Diana G. Gallagher wrote lots of novels.

And he also wrote two others.
The Watcher's Guide, Volume 3 (with Allie Costa)
The Casefiles, Volume Two (with Diana G. Gallagher) The Angel version of the Watcher's Guide.

Paul and Diana were the two best Charmed novel writers, IMO.
Nice to see that their talent carried over to Buffy.

They were the great writers, and so glad they did Buffy novels too. I think one of them also wrote Sabrina novels too, but I can't remember.
