If more people biked, the air would be a lot cleaner!

Biking is very common in the UK. We have superhighway lanes in London which people use in traffic to get around.
Since COVID 19 the government want more people to cycle around and so are putting more bike lanes on the road.
In terms of sport Britain is very good at cycling indoors and outdoors with many athletes winning Olympic and Commonwealth game medals plus the Tour De France also.

That’s good to know, here riding a bike is seen as kids stuff until one is old enough to drive a car. In NYC there’s bike paths but they’re not safe since cars and buses will run into them and people think it’s the bikers fault

How fun, I really enjoyed seeing what bike you use. Have you ever thought of entering any biking events or like those fun runs, but a bike ride where but its all for charity or something? I already do that. At least here in Jena, when possible. I'm even in a biking club to get more bike lanes here.

Well then, we have a monthly critical mass ride here - to remind the car drivers that the bikers are also on the streets. That seems to be forgotten and street rules are not obeyed. Though I can speak for several perspectives: walker, biker and driver! lol

My friend rode his bike today to the cemetery his mother's buried in and laid down some flowers there before riding to a big Tesco's he knows which does discount food items after a certain time each evening which he knows has good bargains at low prices having a new fridge/freezer where he can store them until their eaten of course.
Many cyclists in London despite the superhighway path lanes complain about the not so considerable traffic from lorry and cars not seeing them on the road with pedestrian accidents happening wanting more done about that then.
My friend says a lot of cyclists don't look where they're going anyway and so have not right to moan about it actually.
Having cycled many times in London himself and knowing the roads etc my friends always cautious and anticipates what vehicles might do in front and stays well back from big trucks or lorries obviously.
He mentioned Amsterdams very big on biking which local people do regularly having lots of cycle lanes plus bike hire companies whether that be indoor businesses or on the street renting like the Santander London bicycles we have naturally.

Yeah, the Netherlands are good in that case. In Germany, it's not better than in the UK. I also have to watch every time I bike. There's no distance between car and bike when drivers are overtaking bikers. I could curse then many times, because I also know the situation the other way around. You have to be really careful there.

You have to be very careful both ways as a biker, driver and walker to watch out for each other. Here in New Zealand we have cycle lanes too.

It sure is. Love that they make it so visible in green too. And so much safer so cars and bikers can be on their own paths, and walkers on the other side of course.

London and outer London bike lanes are two different colours.
The superhighway lanes are light blue coloured with the bike symbol on the road with white lines separating that from roads whereas normal bike lanes just have the white lines and white bike symbol down then and are on the side of the main road with various vehicles driving next to them.
