That's the mistake Charmed made. When you can summon a dead loved one, like making a phone call, death loses its impact.
On SPN, there was always a heavy price to be paid when one yanked someone out of Heaven. And we should stick to that.

Yeah, it was a big mistake. And flashbacks to when said dead loved one was alive is fantastic than having them summoned, which we've done very well in S1, when showing Bill Harvelle. Always a price I love that rule, when someone is taken out of Heaven and or saved.

Sounds great to me.
And yes, I like flashbacks being used with characters. Especially because Jim, Caleb or Bill can keep on showing up in flahbacks when it needed for a story without their ghosts showing up.
Oh, and since Missouri knew Mary a bit as a hunter, that could be a story for a flashback episode showing Mary at some point. Missouri could even appear in the time travel episode In the Beginning, crossing paths with her

Yeah, we could do it that way.
While I wouldn't object to occasionally summoning someone from Heaven, it should be kept to a minimum. And only done if absolutely necessary (like the dead person has info our heroes really need).

There were a few times when Charmed did summon ghosts for information purposes only like with the witch in 'Pre-Witched' whose cat Shadow was a Warlock and when Phoebe was on jury duty and brought forth Angela's ghost of course.
Those times I didn't mind because they were for a reason and short to the point.
I didn't mind Melinda Warren back either because like the first two that was for a reason i.e the Warlock Matthew and then when Patty came back for Piper's wedding being a special day along with Grams who conducted the ceremony as a high priestess plus Wyatt and Chris wiccaning when she called for the Halliwell ancestors also.
If we bring anyone back from the dead as Tim said there should be rules to that for eg people can only be summoned certain times of the year like Halloween when the vial between worlds allows that to happen or for things like what happened in Charmed above then.

That's a good idea. After all, Halloween is only once a year.

Yes, Maybe the Lebanon episode (which we can adapt, minus Mary being alive during that time) where we had the full Winchesters together is when Sam and Dean reunite with BOTH Mary and John of course, only a short time or on Halloween or something, but a story like that might fit better more towards the end of SDOW, when we have decided when John dies.

Yeah, an episode like Labanon would work nicely far in the future.

Me too. Would be perfect. Oh and I just noticed Season 2 Episode 3: Bloodlust accidentally got left off the episode list.
