I am an avid user of EBay and I just sold three items this week, two books I used for my thesis and an oldies CD compilation. Does anyone else use EBay, I prefer it to Amazon since they often sell odd or hard to find stuff at lower prices and you’re often buying from people instead of a company, I like the idea that someone in another part of the country or another country is liking my stuff. One of the oddest things I’ve bought from EBay is a guide to Mortal Kombat II published by Electronic Gaming Monthly in 1994, I used to play that game and had the original guide that we wore out to shreds from flipping through it, I bought from a guy in Dubuque, Iowa

A friend of mine sold some things for me there. Me not. Got a good price for books and clothes. Had a good collection and all.

I use it quite a lot, great for finding used stuff I don't want to pay full price for like books, dvd's etc.
I've sold a few things on it as well, and it usually works fine, though I did have one bad experience where for some reason they held my money back for 3 weeks for seemingly no reason, but it resolved eventually.

Same here, I’ve found cool stuff cheaper than on Amazon plus often I’m dealing with people. Earlier today I sent three items I sold, two books and an oldies CD compilation. One book was sold to a guy in Washington DC, another to a guy in Brooklyn and the CD to a German guy in Texas. The furthest item I bought was a jazz CD compilation from Poland, I’d never gotten anything from that far before

I use Ebay all the time and love it (have since 2003), its the best place to find cheap books, DVDs or other odds and ends.
I do still use Amazon too, but sometimes most stuff you look for is out of stock/no longer available because it is fairly old. Mostly I've found Ebay is good if you are looking for stuff that is more recent/recently released, but I like Ebay mor because you seem to find more of what you are looking for.

I used EBay to get the books I needed for my college papers since the libraries were closed, I found some excellent books published in the 70s and was able to sell them when I was done. I’ve also found some rare stuff that’s expensive on Amazon, yesterday I bought John Frusciante’s first two solo albums on EBay which are expensive and hard to find on Amazon. The first was from a seller in Georgia and the second album is being shipped from Russia, the US sellers were more expensive and the Russian seller had the best price when I checked the exchange rate, they’re already shipped

That's fantastic, what a bargain. So good to find good deals. It's interesting when I buy from Ebay, I've found the US sellers are experiensive (but mostly with the shipping costs), but places like UK, France etc are cheaper especially with the exchange rate. Not sure why, but when I'm buying overseas, it's the shipping price that the US sets that does me in. Why I find it odd, is buying from UK is further to Australia than USA, but the shipping is cheaper in the UK than USA. Although I've gotten some wonderful sellers who I've bought stuff from multiple times, and they discounted me the shipping because I've bought lots off them, which I appreciate.

I do love eBay, and also love how sometimes there is a Buy it now option, although those tend to be higher in price than the bidding.

Me neither, EBay has an option to buy stuff outright. I use the buy now option when I’m selling something since I don’t have time to monitor an auction, I get paid via PayPal and it takes a few days to clear. It’s a fun way to get rid of older stuff, the only things you can’t sell are stuff like food, underclothes, firearms and porn but otherwise you can sell stuff

I guess it’s because the shipping prices for stuff in the US is expensive, especially with packages using a faster service. Many shippers use the faster services that cost more but I use Media Mail which is the cheapest option, it takes a few extra days but it’s the cheapest option.
