I love this show SO much. Easily the best DC show on CW by a mile atm.
In an interview David Ramsey hyped up a big reveal, and he delivered on 4 of them. Lois and "Luthor" had a daughter, Superman killed Lois, Steel, and there's no connection to Luthor they just stole the AI. WOW!
Can't wait for Steel to realize that Clark won't turn on humanity, and join up with him. Steel, Superman and the Kents vs Edge, his army, and Sam Lane finishing up the season.

Bringing Steel into the mix is a REALLY cool twist. I love that the writers were able to conceal his identity by saving the hammer for a reveal and using Lex Luthor’s name as a red herring to send all of us barking up the wrong tree.
It's funny that no matter what people say the #1 thing people associate with Lex Luthor is "bald". Just make the dude bald and no one questions it being him lol.

What a twist. I did NOT see that coming with Steel and didn't notice the title of this episode, as didn't read many press releases and news this week.
This show continues to get better and better.

So "Captain Luthor" is in reality, John Henry Steel. Of course, this Steel comes from another Earth, which existed before the Crisis. He was married to his Lois, and saw her murdered by the Superman of that Earth.
On Steel's world, Superman apparently partnered up with Morgan Edge and helped him unleash his Augments on that world. And now Steel is worried that the same will happen on Earth Prime.
Of course, our Superman will never do that.
Nice that the boys were the ones that saved the day. Poor Jordan was having a horrible time controlling his super hearing, but, in the end, it helped save his dad.
And Edge continues with his plans.
So, Clark and Lois are going to tell the boys everything. Good.
This show keeps getting better and better.

Man of Steel
Yet another solid episode, as this show continues to impress me. Proving why it’s easily the best DC show on the CW, with the writing, the acting and chemistry between actors.
But boy, they really weren't messing around with this episode, huh? So many twists and turns.
First I’ll get the big twist out the way. We learn that the stranger (Captain Luthor) is actually John Henry Irons, the man destined to become Steel. It’s no accident that John Henry Irons claims the title of “man of steel” from Superman in this episode, as in the comics he went by the codename of Steel. A twist I did not see coming. I’ll dig into his comic background more in odds and ends.
I really loved Clark’s use of the gentle icy wind to get Jordan’s attention when he had the noise cancelling headphones on. Also, he has super hearing but noise cancelling headphones block everything out, what??
Lois finally got some answers about Irons after he had intercepted the same shipment of ex-Kryptonite she had been tracking with Clark. By the way, I just Love whenever Clark and Lois team-up. Even when Clark is concerned for Lois, you can see how much he trusts her and knows when to follow her lead.
After Irons recovered the box of ex-Kryptonite, she struck a deal with him. The deal was that if he gives her the box, she’d set up a meeting between him and Superman. Steel agrees without realizing her true intention. Lois sends the box to the Department of Defense so they could analyze his fingerprints and uncover his real identity.
While Lois waited for her answers, we are treated to several flashbacks to Irons' Earth, revealing the circumstances that led him to this earth. We learn why Irons hates Superman. Firstly we learn that Lois and Irons had a daughter named Nat and Superman killed Lois. No connection to Luthor at all. That was just a great red herring to throw viewers off. Thinking a bald guy going by the name Luthor would be enough to convince us the viewers that he’s another earth’s Lex.
The reasons for Lois being killed by Superman on this other earth was this Lois had staged a broadcast where she revealed to that world that Kryptonite is his one weakness. The murder happened on live television, while both Irons and Nat looked on in horror. In retaliation to this heinous act, the father-daughter team set to building the suit Irons wore when he debuted on the series in the pilot. They also engineered Steel's well known to the comics iconic hammer, which debuted in this episode during his confrontation with Superman.
I liked that the show did a great job of showing Jordan’s pain with controlling his super hearing. I can give a pass somewhat that Jordan adjusted to his new power very quickly, partially with his connection with Sarah but also with his family.
I also liked the fight with Jonathan and Jordan. It felt very realistic, especially on Jonathan's end. Although they can disagree, they still have deep love for each other at the end of the day that comes through. But Lois bringing up that line about Jonathan not making any friends is very true. Poor Jon is struggling to adjust, so he needed to let that anger out somewhere. He wasn't aiming to hurt Jordan permanently, just in that moment, he let it out.
I love the way they are writing Jonathan. He is just so supportive and kind. It just feels like anything and everything that can go wrong for him...does. It makes the scene where he pounds the stairs to hurt Jordan all the more impactful. But his brother Jordan invading his privacy was just a step too far and he realized he had one chance to hurt his brother who has powers and he took it. Of course, he regretted it after. It felt like a very real. He didn’t want to kill Jordan or beat him up in that moment, he just wanted to hurt him. His aim was to make him a feel a little bit of the pain that Jordan’s crap has inflicted on him.
But Jon needs tons of hugs and truly is a good voice of reason and brother to Jordan. It also proves why the brother without powers is the heart of the family, and why he has so much to offer.
But what I loved so much was that Jordan and Jonathan made up through saving their father and bonding over 14 year old Jonathan stealing their mother's car and driving it without a permit to get to the whereabouts of their dad. And then seeing the two laugh and joke as they rescue their dad, as if their fight never happened that too felt very human, And that made me smile.
Yes, I really love the brothers sibling relationship. Hopefully Jonathan can continue to be a good influence on Jordan, and he can start to change and grow.
Oh, I forgot to add I liked Lana and Lois’ team-up and friendship growing, although it wasn’t a big part of this episode. I suspect that Lana not nominating Kyle for the leadership position is going cause problems within the Cushing house. We’ll if it leads to Lana and Kyle divorcing, and Kyle going away, then I’m all for it. Edge is a snake and is almost definitely going to let it slip.
I’m so glad that Clark and Lois are going to tell their boys everything about what they learned in this episode. YES!!! No lies. So refreshing.
Odds and Ends:
*This episode was directed by former Arrow star David Ramsey. Ramsey I learned in post-episode interviews was already a fan of Steel long before he was tasked with directing this episode. *No Kyle, Lana’s husband, but who actually cares. I sure don’t, given unlikable he is. *Steel is most famous in the comics. For those unfamiliar with John Henry Irons. He made his first appearance in the comics in The Adventures of Superman #500 in 1993. This character was popular enough to warrant his own comic book in ongoing Superman: The Man of Steel comic book series. This was during the period where the “real” Superman was presumed dead after his battle with Doomsday, and Irons was one of four “Supermen” who rose to take his place and protect the city. *What happened to Irons daughter Nat remains to be seen, if she is still alive?
Overall thoughts: Great reveals overall, and another really solid episode. I was impressed that the show managed to shock me, and I hope it keeps it up exciting me.

Moments: 1. Jon and Jordan bonding after their fight and laughing about their fight as if it never happened 2. Clark’s use of the gentle icy wind trying to get Jordan’s attention when he had the noise cancelling headphones on. 3. Luthor is really John Henry Irons (Steel).

I guess Irons ended up on Earth Prime, like that other Beth Kane did. However, since his EP counterpart was already dead, Irons won't have the same issue that Alice and Alt-Beth did.

So, caught now up too. Poor Jordan and his super hearing. Causes a lot of trouble, also with Jonathan but the brothers got together again and saved the day. Capt. Luthor is creepy but his action come from another world what may never exist anymore and this Earth is different and would never be the same. Nice to see Lois and Clark working together again, and Lois could rely on her connections to the army to find out that Luthor is John Henry Irons in reality who called himself the "Man of Steel". This will be interesting though when now the boys know the complete truth about what is going on. Can't wait for the next episode!

Irons is blaming Superman Prime for a crime he didn't even commit.

Now I'm caught up.
This was amazing. LOVED this episode so much. Lots of secrets revealed.
John Henry Irons!! The moment they showed he has a daughter named Nat, I connected the dots. He even has a hammer. I wonder will they pair him with Lana eventually? They are a couple in comics I think. I believe John Henry Irons might see that this Superman is not evil.
I think they are handling Jon and Jordan so well. They are a great pairing, and love how they fight and made up and laugh about the fight as if it didn't happen.

Liked how they tried to connect Steel with Lex Luthor (before they found out his real identity).
Of course, Lex's only known relatives are Lena and his mother, Lillian.

That's right, the only other Luthors we know of that are alive.
Now that he truly isn't another Lex. All the more reason Jon can come play with the cast of Superman and Lois as Lex in season 2. Assuming they don't decide to kill him off again on Supergirl's final season. I'd be quite shocked if Lex dies a second time, and BOTH Lena and Lillian survive. I'm somewhat surprised how long Lillian has survived, as I keep thinking she'd die, which commonly happens on CW shows with the parents.

Love to see Jon Cryer appear on this show. I mean Lex was Clark's enemy before he became Kara's.
