Sad news everyone! “As we reimagine the new CW, we had to make some tough programming decisions,” the network said in a statement. “We thank our partners at Warner Bros. and the casts and creative teams of Kung Fu and The Winchesters for all their hard work, creativity and dedication.” The CW has opted not to pick up a second season of The Winchesters. The news is not surprising; the Supernatural prequel was among the long-shot renewal prospects at the network under its new ownership as it focuses on unscripted and lower-cost scripted programming (primarily international acquisitions/co-productions) in pursuit of profitability. The Winchesters survived zombies, vampires, ghosts, demons, but not the Cheap Wankers
At least they didn't end on a cliffhanger.
As for shopping it around, I've heard that before, about other shows. I'm not holding my breath.

I guess we'll have to see what happens. As it's been said Jensen and Daneel have a Amazon deal already so maybe they might try and get Winchesters put on there perhaps.
I suspect with streaming services going the way they are it won't be worth having tv channels if everything goes online obviously.

Jensen and Daneel got screwed over.
The CW surely knew that the sale was happening, and what would result from it. Why'd they bother picking up this sow?

Having not watched the series I'm guessing if this got cancelled it's being left open-ended with a cliffhanger then which no one wanted?
Did Jenson and Daneel know about the sale before the CW left the building or not then because if it was the second then yes they got screwed over obviously unless Winchesters was just something greenlighted to fill a timeslot for the time being like Charmed season 8?

No, there wasn't a cliffhanger, thank God.
As to whether they new of the sale, I'm sure they must ave (it was in the news for ages). Perhaps they just didn't realize what the Cheap Wankers had in mind.

I'm so relieved about that! Hopefully they can continue the story in comic-form at least. I think they knew hence wrapping up the story so it could serve as a series finale. I hate the Cheap Wankers. But at least we have Superman & Lois and Walker back next year. But who knows if they'll come back after the next seasons.

I get the feeling that even if the show had been renewed, the Cheap Wankers would have probably nuked their budget, like they have with Superman & Lois.
Comics or novels might be a good way to go for the series to continue.

The Cheap Wankers is not the network for this kind of show anymore.

The Cheap Wankers is not the network for this kind of show anymore. Nope, it isn't. Those days are gone. And it's only streaming now where that seems to be happening. Not too many network shows around that are fantasy and sci-fi. But streaming isn't good, shows barely have much life on a streaming platform. I think its worse than network television, they barely can last more than 3 seasons tops if that.

What sank this show was that it appeared at the wrong time. It was a CW show premiering at a time when the CW, as we knew it, was being phased out.
Perhaps Jensen and Daneel should have taken it elsewhere. But that is hindsight talking.
