I honestly don't see the issue here. The Original Series and Reboot take place in separate universes, each with their own rules. Just because characters can travel between said universe's really has no impact on either show, IMO.
I wonder if some fans of other shows like Magnum P.I., Hawaii Five-O, and MacGyver were so hostile towards the reboots of said shows.

I read a comment about the reboot at the Café which interested me. The member wasn't a fan of the show but had seen a few episodes like Macy's death wondering how the writers would handle that. When Kaela was introduced to see what difference that was between her and Paige, and finally, the finale as Halliwell Manor had been shown in a Twitter feed as having been used in that as well.
Anyway, they had a theory that the note which was from someone called Diana who was a Whitelighter from the Halliwell universe pertained to a powerful witch there who could see the future but now of other realities also which they think referred to Phoebe and that she'd documented everything she'd seen from the reboot timeline in VHS format because of her love for old films though she could've used DVD format too of course.
They thought Phoebe also might've seen about the bomb and helped Mel, Maggie, and Kaela through that before knowing they would walk through the portal also and end up in their universe and so left Halliwell Manor unlocked for them to slip in although the sister's left that door open many times in their series overall.
Not seeing who was on the other side has left things to fan's imaginations and what they think might've happened afterward which fanfictions, fan-made videos or essays going forward can answer no doubt.

matt I tend to stick to general discussion forums on reddit, some about books or games I like playing. I do tend to stay away from TV/film ones as the members there can get pretty toxic. Out of interest I went on to the OG Charmed sub-reddit yesterday and YIKES. Most there have the same opinion as this weenie crybaby writer. Kind of pathetic imo. As you said just looking at some of the episodes he had credits in says it all really. Its like they feel threatened by the reboot which is bizarre as it never had the popularity the original had, and that's mainly because many of the OG fans made a conscious effort to tank the reboot when it first started. They never gave it a chance.

I know, right. It was like they thought that the reboot would somehow taint the original series (of course, Kernus had already done that just by being involved, but that is a discussion for another time). So many just closed their minds without ever seeing a single episode.
There is one Cafe member, whom I won't name, but we all know who it is, who kept calling the reboot "the Rip Off". This person never saw an episode, yet felt they were in a position to pronounce judgement.
As I said, I think these people are a minority. However, they are a loud minority.

I gave the reboot 2 seasons before I stopped watching it because I didn't like the way the show was heading at the time which as Tim has said seemed to pick up and finally find some footing in season 4 then.
There were some things I did like about the show for eg how Harry was treated unlike Leo later on in the original series and some things I didn't like as with season 1 having so many storylines when they could've just dealt with who killed Marisol overtime and then started introducing things like the Sarcana and Fiona next year and then season 3 have the Cain family and the Source appear finally.
I mightn't have been a fan of the reboot like OG Charmed but I've never toxically bashed on about that even to people who enjoy this more than the original series because their opinions matter just as much as anyone else's.
Concerning season 5 if the reboot had got any of the OG cast to appear most likely that probably would've been Brian and whichever two boys played teenage Wyatt and Chris plus Melinda had she officially been introduced barring the little girl in 'Morality Bites' as like people here have already said Holly or Rose wouldn't sign on and Alyssa did or does have a show currently happening also.

They never gave it a chance. Thanks for that. I might see if there's any non TV/film ones that take my interest. Yeah, its so toxic there. I don't get why they feel that way, when the reboot's will never be as huge as the OG. It sucks they never gave it a chance, all the drama kinda ruined what this reboot could have done. Plus, if they gave it a chance, they would get their OG characters again in S5 (even if its just Leo, Wyatt and Chris). Now, they've lost their only chance of that ever happening. This could have been as close as it got to seeing the OG's again.

Yeah, I don't get why they have a fit over it, when they haven't seen a single episode. I understand those who did watch can say how bad it is, and didn't like it. But to complain and be so loud, when they never saw at at all.

That said, this petty feud is just needs to die. The reboot is over. People have the right to not like it. But, when you have writers from the original ranting non-stop daily about it, its just so embarrassing. Holly, Rose, Alyssa and Shannen are smart that none of them have said a thing online (ignoring that writers rants on social media), they know best to not bother, and get on with their lives.
This is likely the end of anything Charmed related. After how toxic the fandom has made it, I don't see Hollywood wanting to touch the Charmed brand with a ten foot pole ever again.

Yeah, they would have to, as Wes and Drew are now too old to play the characters at the ages they would be in 2022.
These ladies are above such things.
Agreed. Time to let this rest and move on.

I agree the Charmed fandom is dead but that doesn't mean conventions still can't take place like other past shows whilst fanfiction/fan-made art plus videos is continued as well then.
When the 25th anniversary comes up like with Xena and Buffy there can be re-runs of the original series and cast interviews made separately if wanted to detail their time filming the show or even better have crew people that weren't spoken to much reach out about their experience instead maybe.

Shame we'll never get to see what happened when Mel, Maggie, and Kaela went into the Manor.
And the plans for S5 sounded good. Looks like they finally got some good showrunners, but it was just too late.

Exactly. Conventions, fanfics, fan-art, videos and maybe some tie-in media like comics and novels can keep the fandom and universe alive. I can see a 25th anniversary happening next year with interviews recorded separately. No way all four will be in the same room. The cast don't get along the way other shows like Xena, Buffy or Sabrina are that they can all be together for an anniversary. Shame we'll never get to see what happened when Mel, Maggie, and Kaela went into the Manor.

It sure did. But sadly, too little, too late. They should have done that a while back. Maybe it would have more success. Oh, well.

Would have been nice to have Halloween with the Vera sisters. But that's not going to happen.
Thanks a lot, CW
