S07E02 Survival on Charter #220

Summary:
Squad 51 C-shift paramedics rescue a stuntman from a tower. Gage and Desoto respond to treat the injured child of a fireman's widow. A small plane and a chartered jetliner collide in midair, landing in a residential neighborhood, trapping Johnny and Roy. Station 18 leads a massive response from Battalion 14 and the Compton city fire department. Dr. Morton heads up a triage team from Rampart. Multiple rescues include passengers from both planes and people in the subdivision. Dr. Early performs brain surgery on the injured child. The majority of the user reviews were not happy with this one.

Thoughts:
Again, it takes a long time to get to the main action. We see Station 51 again, yet again with another crew and the younger paramedics look a lot like Roy and Johnny in S1 or S2. When Johnny and Roy come to their station, they bicker like an old couple about all stuff or how Roy said it when you come too dependent on your partner. lol Back at Rampart, they chat with Dixie while Johnny is looking for the new female doctor, like his younger counterpart. They are called out to treat a younh girl who got hit by a baseball on the head. Just when they wanna establish contact to Rampart, two planes collide over them, setting the whole neighborhood on fire. A lot of stations are responding and the younger paramedics find the squad crashed by an engine and know that they have to look for Gage and DeSoto. It takes some time to find them and Johnny is bleeding while Roy seems to be okay. They order their younger colleagues to bring the girl to Rampart whereas all other engines, squads and others are helping to save all people they can. The young girl survives while on the horizon, there might be a wedding. *sighs*

Indeed. I felt strongly reminded of Lockerbie but something similar must have happened not long after that. According to IMDB.

S07E03 Most Deadly Passage

Summary:
Roy and Johnny are sent to Seattle to study the techniques used there. A skydiver jumps off the Space Needle, a worker is trapped at the top of the Kingdome, and a fuel pumper loads a ferry with gasoline instead of diesel fuel, which sets the ferry on fire in the middle of the Elliot Bay. — Anonymous on IMDB

Thoughts:
Well, Johnny and Roy are sent to Seattle to study their techniques and equipment. It doesn't take long for Johnny to complain, wanting the same thing in Los Angeles. Though they are told to stand by and watch, again it doesn't take long before Roy and Johnny step in to help. The Seattle paramedics have the same way like Johnny and Roy (married vs single, blond vs dark hair and so on). The paramedics deal with a skydiver jumping from 'The Needle', an injured man trapped on top of the Kingdome and the great one is a ferry fire. A lot of boats, engines and the Coast Guard are called for help but they can rescue most of the victims. And in the end, Johnny and Roy wanna go home and still argue about a cow's calf. Jesus! And it's winter in Seattle, and so the California boys complain about the cold too.

Oh, I forgot to mention the great documentary about the 50th anniversary of the show. Will watch it on Sunday and then a week break - with something else. lol

S07E04 Greatest Rescues Of Emergency!

Summary:
Firefighter/Paramedics John Gage and Roy DeSoto are each promoted to the rank of Captain in the Los Angeles County Fire Department. After the ceremony, whereupon the reality that they'll no longer be partners hits them, they reminisce about their six years of working together on Squad 51. In flashbacks, they remember some of the most memorable rescues and milestones in their paramedic careers. Afterwards, they vow to remain close friends even if they aren't going to be working in the same station any longer. — TorontoJediMaster on IMDB

Thoughts:
Johnny and Roy are getting promoted to Captains and have to get used to it and their new title. While being at Headquarters, they realize they won't be partners anymore and so remember a lot of their rescues at Station 51. From silly to dangerous and some very close. The highlights I recall: the girdle thing, the toe stuck in the bathtub, dog chasing in the station, scenes from the Pilot, Virus, Snakebite, the Phantom appears, Promotion, Johnny as a model but later Roy chosen, the fire with the Pasadena FD, their female trainee as well as Chet, Henry and the dog house. lol Anyway, Roy and Johnny still wanna be friends despite their new situation. Let's hope it works.

S07E05 What's a nice girl like you doing ...

Summary:
Gage and DeSoto travel to San Francisco, where they observe some topnotch women paramedics in action during major rescue missions. An injured worker is stranded on the Golden Gate bridge. Ambulance squads treat a heart attack victim at a dance bar and an epileptic at a coffee shop. A bad driver causes a traffic accident involving an ambulance carrying the heart patient, resulting in his death and five other injuries. Johnny dates a nurse interested in a long-term relationship. Careless workers and deadly chemicals combine to spark an explosive fire at a pier on the Embarcadero. — Anonymous on IMDB

Thoughts:
Roy and Johnny go to San Francisco and are very welcomed by the Fire Department there, meeting the Chief and all. Roy wants to watch the Health Service and so Johnny remains as a firefighter. Their first rescue scene finds them at the Golden Gate Bridge where they are astonished to see female paramedics - with a complete different equipment and setting. It seems that there are the same careless drivers everywhere where an ambulance gets hit, carrying a critical patient. Johnny and Roy help, yet switch places unknowingly. At the hospital, Johnny gets introduced to a nurse whose interested in more than just friends, hence Johnny is getting nervous. Back at the firestation, he gets told that this nurse is called 'eager Ellen', and well, Johnny is shocked. The last big rescue is a fire with chemicals at the pier where again, Roy and Johnny help out and Johnny even rescues the fire captain of their station there. Some relationships are also mended, yet Johnny seeks out Roy's help, regarding Ellen. In that case, she has a sister and wants to go to L.A.. Aw!

S07E06 The Convention

Summary:
San Francisco firefighters and paramedics rescue a man trapped on the rigging of a schooner. A paramedic convention brings Gage and DeSoto back to San Francisco, where they assist a choking victim in a restaurant, then deliver a baby while two female paramedics treat a sniper's shooting victims. While attending a picnic, SF firefighters and paramedics are called back to work for a mutual aid response in Marin County; Gage and DeSoto tag along and rescue the victims of a lab explosion. — Anonymous on IMDB

The two user reviews tend from good to bad.

Thoughts:
Johnny and Roy are back on the streets of San Francisco. For a paramedic convention, yet before they meet up again, the guys from Frisco rescue a man trapped on a schooner. At the hotel, in the cafe where Roy and Johnny are, a guy chokes on his meal and naturally the paramedics help out since Johnny finds the programm boring, so he goes with the ambulance. At the hospital he sees a young therapist who might interest him, yet Johnny also avoids to meet Ellen, again. Back at the hotel, he sees Roy stepping out the room who admits that is boring and so they join the guys from Rescue 2 again. Meanwhile, the lady paramedics get called out to help a shooting victim while having a pregnant lady prisoner in their ambulance. In the house, a sniper has started his attack and puts the ambulance and victims under fire. Johnny and Roy offer to help the pregnant lady while Gail and Laurie (the two lady paramedics) help their victims. The TV has recorded this, and well, Gail's husband is still clueless. Never mind, back at the hotel, Johnny wants to enjoy an evening out, yet Roy wants to watch a movie. It's a Polish art classic (with English subs) but gets Johnny hooked up as well. On the next day, he wonders what it was about and Roy tells him. His reaction is priceless. Later, Gail hosts a barbeque and Johnny meets his wanted therapist and well, they talk long together while Roy gets philosophical. However, Johnny's romance gets disturbed when Ellen spots him and goodbye says the therapist. Not long after, Gail and Laurie get called out and the firefighters decide to follow. There was a big explosion in a research laboratory and the Novato FD needs help. Roy, Johnny and Laurie's lover go in and it's very close again but they manage. To their surprise, Gail's husband comes and offers a meal for all. Lovely. lol
