Yeah, twenty years ago this day, Princess Diana died.
Hard to believe it's been that long.

I think especially for these two ladies in particular, its the way they died that makes people hesistate in joking about them now, they were both so tragic.

Looks like Harry and Meghan are getting married.
I know that there are some idiots out there who are quick to remind us all what happened the last time a British Royal took up with an American divorcee. However, that was an entirely different situation. Harry is not in line for the throne, after all (his brother William, and then William's son, George, are). So there is really no comparison to Edward VII and Wallis Simpson and anyone trying to make such a comparison, IMO, sounds like a moron.
Also, this is not 1936 anymore. Prince Charles, next in line to the throne is himself a divorcee and so is his current wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, the Duchess Of Cornwall. So even if Harry was next in line after Charles, I don't see any issues about it. Of course, since Harry is not next in line, this point is moot.
I wish all my best to Harry and Meghan.

I think they make a wonderful couple, I've always felt that British and American go so well together, we can teach each other so much. Meghan can teach Harry to be a little more free, and Harry can teach her how to reign it in sometimes. I think she will be very popular in the UK because we tend to admire the sort of Hollywood beauty she exudes.

Looks like both William and Harry got lucky. Both Kate and Meghan have been accepted and are well liked.
There doesn't seem to be any of the hate that poor Camilla got when she and Charles first got together. I never understood why so many hated her.

Yeah Harry and Meghan seem like a nice couple together.
The wedding happening in May next year will take place inside St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle so no big fancy royal engagement at Westminster Abbey.
Meghan will quite acting to focus on royal affairs which the creator of Suits knew about apparently before she announced it having drafted her character Rachel's exit storyline a year ago already betting how her and Harry's relationship would turn out obviously.

I feel a bit iffy on her giving up acting, I hope its something she actually wants to do and isn't being forced into.
And as for Camilla, I think she was doomed from the off, there were already rumors of her being Charles' side-piece, but then she swooped in after Diana's death, it looked very bad to the public who were still devastated by her death. I think no matter who it had been, they would have gotten the backlash.

Meghan's character's name was Rachel. Ironic, considering that Rachel is Meghan's actual first name. She's said that she plans to devote her time to humanitarian causes. I wonder how many know that Charles and Camilla knew each other long before Diana entered the picture.

Well Charles and Camilla's wedding wasn't televised like William and Kate's was as it was a civil ceremony in a building just along the street from Windsor Castle although the blessing they had afterwards was.
St George's chapel isn't as big as Westminster Abbey though big enough to hold enough royals and dignitaries so Harry and Meghan's wedding could be televised if the royal family give permission and the young couple don't mind or it could end up been a small affair. We'll have to wait and see.
The wedding will happen on the 26th of May next year being a Saturday so there will be even people of work in Britain to watch it if it was and the country will get a bank holiday two days afterwards which we already get being the start of Whitsun.
I wonder if Meghan's dress like Kate's will be covered up i.e. non strapless with sleeves which is royal policy it seems.

My mum wasn't worried she missed the Queen's speech and I told her what she said'd said anyway.

It's that time of the year when the Queen honours people in her new year's listings.
Well, known celebrities like Beatles legend Ringo Starr and last surviving Bee Gees brother Barry Gibb have been knighted whilst Darcy Barcell ex-ballerina and current Strictly Come Dancing judge has been made a Dame.

So Ringo is a Knight, like Paul is. That's both of the surviving Beatles.
