I'm probably not the best person to talk about it, though. I don't treat special days as nicely as I used to. There's something missing, it's like people around me don't care as much either. And I feel sad for it.

Yeah, when one gets older, sometimes birthdays can lose their appeal.

Yeah, I don't like to celebrate as much when it comes to birthdays. Might be only happen when it's a big one.

Like next year, when you turn 40.
Only two weeks to go until I hit 50.

Yeah, I think you're the third oldest poster here, behind Jana and myself.

Yeah, I will. Since 2017 is the big year for you, Jana. We were both born in the same years as major Science Fiction franchises, Star Trek for me, and Star Wars for you

Well, I had a nice birthday. I met my friend and we headed to the Lone Star Cafe, the restaurant I wanted to go to. When I asked where her fiance was, he was supposed to accompany us, she told me he would meet us at the restaurant. Okay. We get there, and I'm sure I hear my friend say "Seven for Tim". However, I wasn't sure. When I asked her, she said that I must have misheard her. Anyway, we're seated at this big table. By now, I'm getting puzzled. There are only three of us, so why the big table? I get my answer when my friend's fiance arrives. With him are my friends family, the people I spend my holidays with. My friend wanted to surprise me, but she didn't count on the two of us getting to the restaurant first. So she had to stall and hope I didn't catch on. She was worried when I started asking questions as to what was going on. Anyway, my friend made sure I got the birthday treatment, which at the Lone Star meant wearing this big floppy cowboy hat and getting up on a saddle, while the whole restaurant staff sings Happy Birthday. Truth be told, I could have lived without that part. I mean people have cell phones. This could end up on YouTube (and I said I would move to North Korea should that happen)! It was a nice 50th Birthday
