Doug really made a bad decision when he gave up the rights to the Nostalgia Critic. What was he thinking!? I'm sure they will. Tamara has a series of her own, Tamara's Never Seen, where she watches movies for the first time and talks about them. He probably did kill himself when he saw that there was no way to protect himself. He took the easy way out. This is not the first time that death put a sexual predator out of the reach of justice. Case in point, Jimmy Savile. The only difference is that Savile died of natural causes.

And we all know how that turned out Tim floods of victims coming out after Saville's death.
At the time Jimmy was very pally with people at the BBC during the 70's and 80's when these attacks happened and quite a lot few of them knew what was going on. Even some of the police and politicians were friends with him but said nothing because of 1. He was too popular i.e. bought in 20 million-plus viewers sometimes on Top Of The Pops and Jim'll Fix It. and 2. Were paid of by him to kept quiet which wasn't good so you can imagine what his victims thought after he died unlike Justin obviously but got away with it still none the less.

Let's keep it on-topic, guys. This thread is about TGWTG/Channel Awesome, not Jimmy Savile. Right now, there are only two holdouts left at Channel Awesome -- Brad Jones (Cinema Snob) and Larry Bundy Jr. (Guru Larry). Brad is a close friend of the Walkers, so it's no surprise that he stuck around, but Larry is a different story. He's been disillusioned with Channel Awesome for a long time now and is only staying there out of spite. He wants to see the whole damn place burn down, and it's glorious. His Twitter has become a hilarious read with all the #ChannelLarry jokes.

My fault, Betty. I was just making a comparison (well know personality is a pedophile, is protected by others, and dies before being brought to justice). You have to admit, the two cases are similar. Still, if the Walkers are now gone, will he be that far behind. Hope he finds another channel soon, I love his reviews. I don't think he'll have that long to wait now. Love this video he made:

Looks like he's having a ball, watching Rome burn.
I hope that Brad, and the others will resurface elsewhere. Assuming they managed to keep the copyrights to their characters, they should be okay.

Now, this is just sad.Yes, you're reading that correctly. This controversy has more people Googling Doug Walker/Nostalgia Critic than at any other point since the post-Demo Reel relaunch of his show. It's easy to forget it, but TGWTG/Channel Awesome had already been sliding into irrelevancy for years before this blowup happened. The first major blow, of course, was Doug's temporary retiring of the Nostalgia Critic in 2012, which caused a massive dropoff in foot traffic at the site. Even after he brought the show back in 2013 (which received mixed reception due to the format change and increased reliance on sketch comedy), the damage had already been done. Then came the "Channel Awesome" rebranding in 2014, which caused yet another drop in foot traffic due to the site switching to a new URL. Shortly after, there was also a mass exodus of talent from the site, notably Lindsay Ellis (Nostalgia Chick), Allison Pregler (Obscurus Lupa), Phelan Porteus (Phelous), Andrew Dickman, and Kyle Kallgren (Oancitizen). The final major blow before the Not So Awesome document was the shutdown of Blip.tv in August 2015. Back during TGWTG's heyday in the late 00s, YouTube forbade the monetization of videos that used copyrighted content, which made it difficult for reviewers to post their work there, so they opted to use the Blip video service instead. When Blip shut down, most of them moved their content to YouTube (which had relaxed its policies on Fair Use videos in 2014), which meant that people could now watch episodes directly on YouTube without ever having to step foot on Channel Awesome. The site's foot traffic only sank even lower.

No doubt people are hearing about this and are curious as to what all the fuss is about.
Perhaps they should have shut down the channel once the videos were available on YouTube. Surely they must have realized that, once people could see the videos directly, they would not bother with the channel anymore.
Did these people not know how to plan ahead??

Well, Doug has finally spoken... and, it's a total bullshit non-apology. TL;DR -- "Nobody from my inner circle has ever complained to me, so I don't see what the problem is." And, of course, he has his two personal lapdogs backing him up: Well, of course, you two would feel that way -- Your asses would be on the street if it wasn't for Doug. Also, nobody cares that you're a SAG actor, Malcolm. ------------------------------------------------------------- Doug Walker is dead to me. He is a selfish moron who only cares about his own bottom line before the needs of anyone else, and he wasn't even the funniest or most talented reviewer from the site anyways ( especially not after he rebooted the Nostalgia Critic). Instead of either mourning Doug or trying to make excuses for him, I recommend checking out the other former contributors to the site that were unfairly exploited and overlooked. Want thoughtful pop culture analysis? Nobody does that better than Lindsay Ellis: www.youtube.com/user/chezapoctube/videosWant hilarious reviews of bad movies and other cheesy nostalgic stuff? Obscurus Lupa, Phelous, and Film Brain have you covered, and I honestly find all of them funnier than Doug, IMO. www.youtube.com/channel/UCiR_TugQyPc7cerQgiYCjtwwww.youtube.com/channel/UCUp4yFAjgOA11a4h568vnrAwww.youtube.com/channel/UC8TdfFu8YDSqFdmkHHxrk8QDoug and his inner circle weren't the entirety of Channel Awesome, nor did they deserve to be. These four (plus many others) deserve your support far more than him.

Yeah, his refusal to call out Michaud shows that he's not willing to step up.
Yeah, I love those folks. I became a fan of Phelous quite a while back.

You need to check out Lindsay's work, Tim. Doug originally hired her to be the "Nostalgia Chick," a distaff counterpart who reviewed "girly" things he refused to touch, but she quickly grew to be a more thoughtful, analytical reviewer who looked at movies, tropes, and pop cultural trends with a serving of brains and dry wit.
She was actually my introduction to TGWTG years ago, and I've learned a lot from her videos.

Thanks, Betty, I will.
She left around the same time that Allison and Phelous did, right?

Thanks, Betty, I will. She left around the same time that Allison and Phelous did, right? Yup, although she wasn't fired like they were. Here's the goodbye message she posted on her site back in 2015: Even early on, she was visibly uncomfortable with her designated role as Doug's distaff counterpart, as especially seen in her Smurfette Principle and Bratz videos (the latter of which becomes especially Harsher in Hindsight now that we know how Doug really treated the other reviewers). She always wanted full control over her image and content, and while she definitely progressed beyond simply being a "Girl Nostalgia Critic" in later Nostalgia Chick episodes, it's easy to see why she eventually left the site and retired the Nostalgia Chick character. Like with many of the other reviewers there, TGWTG was a good starting point for Lindsay, and it introduced her to many friends, but she eventually outgrew the site and needed to move on. All of her stuff is on YouTube, both her old Nostalgia Chick videos and current Loose Canon series, and I highly recommend it.

Yeah, Lindsay, a senile, doddering 33 years old The one good thing about TGWTG, it was the launch site of many talented online critics who have since branched out onto their own. Another online critic, I enjoy, Sean "Smeghead" Moore, was never part of Channel Awesome. Many are commented that he dodged a bullet!

Did Doug buy back the rights to use the Nostalgia Critic name?
He's still putting out videos using that name.
