I really have no idea where to put this thread so feel free to change it if it's in the wrong place (maybe I should have put it in New Media??), but what are some of your favourite youtube channels?

And now it's there. As for favourite YouTube channels, here are a list of mine. They are online critics that I like to watch. There is also Star Trek Continues.

Oh, your channels seem great, good movie critics are something I'm always on the lookout for...
I have just discovered Mythology and Fiction Explained, as well as Overly Sarcastic Productions, both good channels about various myths, legends and fiction. I watch a lot of people on Youtube, but my all time favourite is The Gothic Alice, a Goth girl who discusses various things, including art, horror movies and directors, and DIY... She also creates and sells her own art on Etsy. She may seem a bit aloof and blunt at times, but I love how smart and knowledgeable she is.
Other Goth channels I like include Cemetery Confessions (they're good for the more philosophical and intellectual discussions on Goth), Angela Benedict and Ligeia Ressurected.
I also watch a number of channels discussing books, such as Hailey in Bookland (she reads a little too much YA to my taste, but I feel like she's got a lot of potential, plus she seems really nice and genuine); Jean Bookishthoughts, MercysBookishMusings and Thoughts on Tomes are also really good.

I also follow a lot of channels that review books, I admit that YA is my guilty pleasure, so I do follow some of those, but I love Mercy and ginerreadslainey as well as Kitty G who has a love of fantasy like myself.

I don't like to think of anything I like as a guilty pleasure, but YA does kind of fit that... I've been trying to move away from it recently, I've been trying to read more "adult" books, but I keep getting sucked back in... I mean, I don't just read YA, I read a lot of other genres, but I feel like I read too much of it...
Unfortunately, I don't like a lot of the YA Booktubers, or at least the really big ones, because they don't give proper reviews: they basically just summarise a story, talk about how awesome it is, and leave it at that. I prefer Booktubers to be a little more analytical, to go more in-depth and be more critical...

There is a channel run by the Kings Of Horror. Some of the movies they have on there are.... Well, let's just say that they are unique. Some of the movies are not too bad. However, others look like they just gave a camera to a bunch of college kids, sent them out into the woods, and told them to make a movie! Still, Kings Of Horror is a good way to pass the time.

***Thought I'd move these posts here. Hope no one minds***
Now I wish that YouTube would get rid of the posting feature. I mean have you all seen some of the posts that turn up there?

Now I wish that YouTube would get rid of the posting feature. I mean have you all seen some of the posts that turn up there? Posting feature? You mean the discussion section? Gosh, I really hope not, that would be really sad, since there can be some great conversations, and it gives you the opportunity to interact with other people... I know there can be some vile ones, as well, but it all depends on the video: for example, I tend to avoid any political or feminist video, because of the comments down below. Also, I could be wrong about this, but I think that the creator of the video can choose to delete comments they think are inappropriate...?

Yeah, that's what I meant.
The problem is that religion and/or politics can worm their way into any discussion. Even if the video in question has no connection to either. Believe me, I've seen it happen.
No, Jennifer, you are correct. The owner of the account can delete inappropriate comments. That can also, if they choose, disable the discussion option on a video, so no one can post there.
The problem is that not enough of them do either one. I've seen many a discussion turn nasty because of that.

Yeah the comment section can get pretty toxic on youtube depending on the content of the video. Sometimes they can be pretty shocking, unfortunately people can literally post whatever they want and not have to worry about any consequences.

I know. It's amazing how fast these discussions can get out of hand.
If had a YouTube account, I would constantly monitor any discussions made about my videos. I would delete any troll posts, once they were made.
YouTube really needs to start cracking down on this. They should tell all users to monitor their video discussions. If said users don't want to do that, then they should just disable the comments feature altogether.

Thankfully I've had no bad comments on any of my videos yet but then I don't get hundreds of people posting every day but if there were people trolling then like Tim I'd delete their comment anyway.

I'm glad it hasn't happened to you, Katherine.
However, I'm glad you're keeping a close watch on your account.

I think for a lot of channels though it is difficult to monitor if you get thousands upon thousands of comments, things like music videos, film trailers, sporting plays etc will get millions of views and thus an absolute truck-load of comments. They can't all be monitored. Though I do know that the user of the channel can disable comments and ratings so its up to them.

Someone uploaded the episodes to the 1988-91 syndicated series, Monsters, to YouTube. I've been watching these old episodes. Yeah, I know they didn't have much of a budget (CGI was in its infancy at this time and very expensive), but I think they did okay. And, like with the original Twilight Zone, it's fun watching this show and seeing young actors who would go on to become more famous. Matt Le Blanc (Friends) appeared on one episode and Tori Spelling (BH 90210) appeared on another. So if you're on YouTube, give this series a look.
