Nice that she found a new and move loving room. I read that cats do that sometimes. If they don't get the love and attention they deserve, they'll leave and seek out a better home.
I'm glad that her leg doesn't bother her anymore. Nice that she can run a lot.

In that case of the cat we adopted in the early 90's (we called him Squeak because of his squeaky meow) it was no doubt the same. He saw we had two well fed cats, he knew it was a cat house. When our two cats willfully accepted him, he knew he'd found a good home.

Trilly, my cat that died last year, was also a stray who appeared on my back porch in 2000. Unlike Squeak, she wanted to live with us, every time that back door was opened, she would run into the house. It wasn't long before she became my cat (Squeak and our previous two cats had passed away by then). Fate timed her arrival just right, it seemed.
Trilly would be the last stray I would adopt right off the streets. After my Mom died in 2010, I sold the house and came to this apartment.

Tatiana, my current cat, is three years old as of today. According to her adoption records, she was born on December 21, 2010. Here is a video of the Ottawa Humane Society (which I am a proud supporter of), where I adopted Tatiana from: www.youtube.com/user/OHSWalkathon?feature=watch

Thanks to the efforts of our Humane Society, here in Ottawa the number of strays has actually dropped. Good news, it means more cats have found forever homes.

Cats really are noble animals. I can see why the Ancient Egyptians worshipped them

That's for sure. When I had that stomach virus a couple of weeks back, Tatiana stayed in bed with me all day. She knew I wasn't feeling well. That's loyalty for you.
Yet it's dogs that get the title of Man's Best Friend (nice misogynistic title, BTW). Not that I have a problem with dogs, I don't. However, cats deserves the same respect, IMHO.

Bastet, the Egyptian Goddess of CatsLegend has it that Bastet still visits her children today. You've no doubt seen a cat suddenly stare at something. When you look yourself, you see nothing. The legend says that is Bastet, visiting the cat in question. Of course, she's invisible to humans, which is why we see nothing. There is a story, unsubstantiated, of course, about man who was attacked by a lion in Africa, sometime in the early 1900's. The man offered a prayer to Bastet, begging her to ask the lion to let him go. Suddenly, the lion released him and wandered away! Hmmmmm...
