I saw it yesterday. This movie was alright, but is definitely not the best movie ever made.
It is definitely completely different than any movie before it. Still for me, the great films were the Dark Knight. Basically the film Is a murder mystery every step of the way. There are elements of Seven, Zodiac, Chinatown, and Klute in it,.
Great fight scenes I'll admit.
But I'm not a big fan of Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne (he isn't bad, but not the best Bruce Wayne ever) or Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman. And The Riddler was not very believable.
Colin Farrell was great in the film as the Penguin.
I don't get where this is the best Batman movie ever is coming from with reception. I suppose the newer generations who didn't grow up with the old stuff would think this is the greatest thing ever. I don't. it was alright, not terrible. But not the best Batman film ever.

Do we really need another Batman movie?
Chris Nolan's Dark Knight movies did the story pretty well. They'll never be topped, IMO.

Lord knows, its been over 60 years since the last one. Why not give a series a chance. There's so many stories they can do verses a movie. The Batman fans have been asking for one for decades and decades.

That's true.
While there have been multiple animated Batman series, the last live action one was the old Adam West series.

Going to see this tomorrow. I have a gift card to the movies, and some membership freebies, that HAVE to be used by next week. So may as well use it. I'll be going with a massive Batman fan, who really wants to see it.
I'll report back here, what I think of it.

Please do. My friend said he'd wait until the film comes out online before watching it himself.

Saw the movie today. I came out of it enjoying it.
I love how the movie felt more like a detective movie rather than a superhero movie. It really brought out the best on batman as a character.
I loved skipping over the origin story this time for a change. We've seen it enough, unless you've never seen Batman. But, they did enough to bring it up in the film to get insight.
I liked the beginning when Bruce is giving us his monologue on how The Batman strikes fear into criminals and we see these criminals see the bat signal and then look into the dark abyss in fear that Batman will appear. Loved the intensity of that scene.
This version of Bruce was a social recluse type of character, as opposed to the slick and charismatic Bruce we’ve seen straight off the bat before. It was very different but I didn't mind it. It also kind of made lot of sense given how Batman is pretty much all Bruce does at this point in his story. I think (and hope, too).
This Bruce Wayne was spot on with comic book early days Batman where Bruce didn’t wanna be Bruce and only wanted to be Batman. It took years for Bruce to even realize that he has a life outside of Batman and it’s barely starting to happen. So I get why this film started off with more as Bruce as Batman than Bruce himself. It made sense, by the end of the film, Bruce learns he can do more good to help the city as Bruce himself than just as Batman.
I like how many mistakes this Batman makes. He’s incidentally responsible for the whole plot, he makes mistakes in fights. He's not perfect. Which is fun to see.
Jeffrey Wright’s Gordon is so great. I love how much a team he and Batman are. I liked this Gordon so much, I was worried something bad was going to happen to him for most of the later half of the movie. Thankfully not the case.
Selina had an okay introduction. I do understand where she’s coming from, just trying to get by in this crazy city. I love how she correctly assumes Batman is rich by the assumptions he makes about people, and his narrow worldview. She helps him realize the wider world out there, and doesn’t apologize for surviving. But, Not sure if she edges out Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman. But, this is a much more grounded, real Selina though.
We didn't get much Alfred. So it's hard to tell, how I feel about him. Maybe he'll get more in the next film.
Paul Dano’s Riddler was good in some parts. But, the actor did overact I felt a little near the end, but maybe it was in purpose for how insane he was.
The Bruce Wayne fake out really had me going there!
The score and music in this film was wonderful. The cinematography was great. Gotham also looked great.
My only major complaints would be the Joker scene, which did feel unnecessary. I’ve read about there being a second, deleted Joker scene and I’m excited to watch that, but I think they could have cut after the Riddler’s reaction to the news or something. I’m so over the Joker to be honest.
I'm sure The Batman II is going to focus more on Bruce Wayne “doing more for the city” and developing his public persona as well as the Batman/Bruce Wayne balance.

Firstly I'm glad you liked the film Dark Avenger . Second, it is nice to see a change to Batman than the typical movies of the past obviously. And yes Bruce is a master detective like Sherlock, Marple, and Pirot which previous films haven't touched on really so anyone who likes that kind of genre will enjoy this then. Of course, there's a lot to Batman so films or television programs have pleather of storylines they can portray overall actually. I get not wanting to see Joker who's been overused as it is because there are many villains in the Dark Knights arsenal who he can take on outside of him. It's good the film showed Batman's flaws as well because no one is perfect and it balances Bruce's character out more making him relatable to people who then understand what's it like and what the man goes through every day. Bruce and Jim Gordon have always had a varied friendship which any movie would no doubt show naturally. I'm sure if this does well a sequel wouldn't be off the card's future-wise then.

American Bruce Wayne played by another Brit (Robert Pattinson this time). As most of you know, British Christian Bale played the character in the Dark Knight movies.

It was a much needed change. I really liked that they dived right into the detective stuff more here. And Bruce is a fantastic detective, so nice to see it at the forefront. Yes, there's plenty of others out there. I am curious for this new adult Batman animated series due to start next year. Agred. There's so many villains who haven't even been in a movie they can use. I really loved Bruce and Jim's friendship in this film. I'm sure they'll get a sequel if it does well. Maybe in a few years.
