But with S5 the introduction of Chris, even though his story seems to differ between the seasons.

There were a few good episodes from season 5 like "The Eyes Have It", "A Witch In Time", "Cat House", and "Sense And Sensibility". If "Witch's Tail" had been only one part containing Miley the innocent and Necron the demon with no Phoebe turning into a Mermaid that would've been good as well then.
Of course, Paige not taking her promotion was a mistake as was quitting social work because that suited her plus when she become a Whitelighter South Bay would've been an excellent place to meet charges and be her cover like Leo a handyman too.
Paige was ditzier after that I felt.
I'd have had the Crone around a few more episodes and made her the season finale big bad or at least had the Titan's episodes been more mythological had the writers actually done their homework on Greek mythology.
Also, Cole would either not have come back or left after "Witch's Tail" on amicable terms with Phoebe having transferred to another town where the law firm he worked at was also and he used his new powers to help people there.
Then Phoebe finally would've accepted her part in the Source storyline and been the person who quit her job taking a year's sabbatical falling in love with magic again becoming the woman we knew and loved earlier on.

As far Season Five goes, I'd keep Cat House. Burn the rest.

I agree with you, those were the good episodes of S5. I do think AWT, would have been great as just a one-off not a two parter.

Absolutely. "A Witches Tail" didn't need two episodes just one concerning Miley and Craig with Necron added as the villain of the week. If Cole did come back then he and Phoebe could talk realizing they never should've gotten together in the first place and that their marriages over with divorce the option they do going forward.
Phoebe excepts her part in the Source storyline saying sorry for what happened to Cole before he sights transferring to another law firm elsewhere and the two-part on amicable terms. Job done.

The whole mermaid thing turned me off. Disney called, they say that they want their idea back.
And Kernus wanted his Slutty Mermaid spin-off, that thankfully, went nowhere.
That's when Charmed lost the plot. And the worst was yet to come, when the rest of the Magical Community showed up. I could no longer take the show seriously.
CCDOW folks, if any of you are seeing this, please, for the love of God, NO Magical Community.

I agree that would have been enough for a standalone episode. You nailed it. Perfect!

The only Charmed season premier that needed to be two hours was Charmed Again, because it was basically rebooting the show.
This rubbish mermaid thing could have easily been dealt with in on episode.
Her hair turned red and her IQ dropped about fifty points. The spell that changed her hair colour also orbed her brain into the next county.

Yeah, I was wondering where all of a sudden these magical creatures come from. They never did before, except the fairies. The rest is not necessary.

That' when I stopped taking the show seriously.
Whenever they trotted out these Disney clones, everyone pointed and laughed.
