I guess that's why we never saw Melinda again, even though she was key part of Halliwell history. Tyler Layton retired from acting, and they didn't want to recast the role (the Other Darrin syndrome).
I'm guessing that Prudence's father died young. That happened a lot in those days. Perhaps you can give us your version of how and when that happened.

That is too bad about Melinda on the show, but of course, Summer has already done a fantastic job using her already. Having her in the first episode really set the story so well. I'm surprised Connie didn't start the show similar to you Summer with her death and the premonition of the Charmed ones leading into the present.
Of course, unlike Connie, you have more freedom. Connie had one episode to work the pilot, so she most likely had to cut lots of her original ideas out.
Also reminds me in 'Which Prue is It Anyway? we learn about Briana a Warren witch who had powers like Prue, who crossed paths with one of the lords of wars. Be cool, if you did something with her, or even played around with using Melinda and even better Prudence. What about this episode leading into 'Witch is Back', assuming, of course, you reworked it so that came before 'Witch is Back'?

Yep, most of what was in 'The Power of Three' novel was most likely stuff that Connie might have wanted to use, and part of the fun of me being able to incorporate it into my series.
Great suggestions guys. You'll just have to wait and see. I'll just say, that YES you will see Melinda again for sure, how and when, that depends on how I break down the rest of S1.

Yeah, it was in that novel that Melinda's ghost showed up, right after Phoebe activated their powers. You did a great job with that scene, correctly showing that Melinda would have been hanged (the rope burn around her neck), not burned (in the novel, her ghost shows up all charred and burned).
Another plus of Fan Fiction, we don't have to worry about actor availability.

That might be the best part of Fan Fiction alright. You don't also have to worry someone will quit or get fired. So, Summer, you don't have to kill off Prue, assuming you want to bring Paige in, and or stick to the original set.

Thanks. Exactly the things I want to do, correct some mistakes they made, and make this as true to Salem history as possible. I think the charred and burned Melinda might be too scary for The WB senors. That might be the best part of Fan Fiction alright. You don't also have to worry someone will quit or get fired. That's right, and I'll let you know, I'm sticking to the original set of Charmed Ones. Especially because, I don't think I'll be doing eight seasons of Charmed. I don't think I'll introduce Paige, I'm wanting to keep the original set in-tact for my entire series.

And if they'd done proper research, they could have included the scene. A rope burn around a neck woudln't have been too bad.
Yeah, the show really didn't need to last eight seasons.

I think the charred and burned Melinda might be too scary for The WB sensors. That's true, Summer. I'll also love to see more of Salem's history explored. You could even have the sisters going to Salem for an episode, maybe a story set between S1 and S2, like the original, maybe when they are demon-warlock-free for a month like they were in Witch Trial, it gives them the idea to maybe go on a sisterly vacation. The series did plenty of novels where they went traveling. Voodoo Moon, Mystic Knoll and another one were some I really loved.Yeah, eight seasons was too many. I think you'll be happier if your series is only two or three seasons. I'm glad you are sticking to the original set and showing us how it could be if Prue was around for the whole thing. But if you are only going to do two or three seasons, then no need to use anything from S4-S8, and just stick to using the novels, S1-S3 lore.

I like this idea. The sisters want to find out more about their family roots, so they head for Salem to see what they can dig up from the records there.
Of course, while they are there, an adventure happens.
Do what the novels did, get the sisters out of San Francisco from time to time.
Before I moved them to Arkham, Mass, four years ago, I occasionally sent Rex and Hannah out of S.F. Heck, I've even sent them off the Earth on occasions!

So much you can do, with stories. It might be cool if they visited Salem for a story.
I'm looking forward to more episodes Summer, whenever you get through your writers block.

Yes, I can do this. We'll see. So much you can do, with stories. It might be cool if they visited Salem for a story. I'm looking forward to more episodes Summer, whenever you get through your writers block. I'm hoping to get out of that writer's block soon, we'll see.
We'll see, I could even do a combination of several novels where they went on vacation, of course setting it all in one location. We'll see, although it isn't as important with what I'm writing currently now, but I'll keep it in mind. We'll see.

Me too. I'm excited to see what you do next, Summer.
I'll hope you have it ready by Easter at least. Not that I want to rush you.
