Guess it was only a matter of time until the Riverdale world snatched up a PLL alum, lol. (This also drastically lowers the odds of Aria returning to the upcoming PLL spinoff.) From what I've heard and read about Katy Keene, Lucy Hale is great casting. As far as the Riverdale timeline goes, I wonder if this means that Riverdale will be doing a time jump next season? It wouldn't be the first time a teen show has done it (Lucy's previous show did it midway through S6), and I've also read that it would be a fairly easy way to write out Fred Andrews (a sad necessity). The Katy spinoff only strengthens the argument for a time skip, IMO.

Riverdale does attract the same audience that watched PLL.
Lucy should fit right in.

I really think she is, and moving Josie over to this spin-off is the best thing they can do, so she can get bigger stories and more screentime. She has been so underused on Riverdale. I do wonder if they might do a time jump. Although, I think they are still 17, so the senior year would be Season 4. But it would be a good thing to consider, and a way to write out Fred Andrews (sadly). But if they time jump, that makes sense, because Josie joining this spin-off, means how will they write her out and have her skip senior year, if this spin-off is set in the future. We'll see.

I remember the show that put Lucy on the map, American Juniors (an American Idol spin off for kids).
Lucy was born in Memphis, Tenn, the same city that Shannen Doherty was born in

I didn't know that about Lucy and Shannen. Yeah, this show is going to be big for her, and no doubt, It will be picked up. CW is losing two big shows, and they really must be rebranding now.

They're mixing the world of Katy Keene with Josie. In the comics, I don't think these characters ever met.

In fact, I don't think that Katy and Josie occupied the same reality in the comics.
However, on the show, that can change.

Yeah, that is likely going to change, especially with Josie being an older version of herself most likely finding herself in New York. I'm hearing she'll leave Riverdale and be a teen who gets discovered for her singing talents and goes to New York.

And no doubt that's where Katy comes in.
Sounds interesting.

It does, no doubt this is going to be picked up. It would be a huge shock like Wayward Sisters if it didn't.

Starts this coming Thursday.
Kind of pissed off that SPN is going on hiatus to make room for it. Why didn't they take Legacies off instead (God forbid that they go without Julie Plec's rubbish for a while).
