Canada of course goes all out for Halloween as well. I stated America because that's who I associate country-wise most with Halloween though a few of the houses around my way apparently were decorated quite nicely as well obviously.

Well, Halloween did start in the British Isles. The settlers brought it over here.

Mum and I don't celebrate Halloween although we see the decorations in shops and around town etc. I also never did trick or treat as a kid.
The YMCA doesn't celebrate Halloween either being a Christian organisation though we have done work arounds with the kids based on that for e.g., a cooking activity of chocolate apples being a type of fruit then or pumpkin carving because that's a vegetable of course.

Neither did I. For me it's a religious holiday. Thanks to Martin Luther and 95 thesis.

Samhain, from which what we now call Halloween originated, was around LONG before anyone heard of that bloke from Bethlehem. In fact, all the major religions are Johnny Come Lately's compared to Samhain.
As you can all see, I've switched on the Halloween theme. However, that means that the Shoutbox is back at the bottom, and will remain there until I switch the board back to the default setting. Sorry about that.

That's okay. We can choose which theme we will use.

This year I’m working at a preschool where the school doesn’t celebrate Halloween, many of the students are from Evangelical Christian and Orthodox Jewish families who think Halloween is wicked. It sucks but I get it’s not part of their religion, I like dressing up for Halloween and the decorations and creepy stuff. Maybe I’ll find a Halloween celebration nearby, in the meantime I’m listening to Swedish heavy metal and drinking whisky so I’m doing my part 😂

I tend to just relax and enjoy Halloween-themed movies and shows during October. I haven't had any trick-or-treaters ringing the doorbell in a number of years. I do have some sweets on stand-by in case.

Around my way, mum and I rarely get anyone knocking on our door on Halloween night.
If that happens it's once or twice then.
Being a non-horror fan I don't watch scary films because I don't like them although my friend reckons I probably do soft horror for e.g. the Omen trilogy or Rosemary's Baby as they don't contain any real gory or jump-scary parts in them of course.
A lot of remakes are coming out this October like the Exorcist, Hellraiser, and Salem Lot plus one about Winnie The Pooh being evil which I can't comprehend considering the type of character he is obviously.

Schools that support this anti-Halloween propaganda should be shut down, IMO.
A lot of remakes are coming out this October like the Exorcist, Hellraiser, and Salem Lot Another version of Salem's Lot. I've seen both the previous ones (the 1979 TV mini-series and the 2004 cable one). And, of course, I have the original novel.

These thoughts haven't crossed my mind yet, with the Halloween sweets and all, though we've got Christmas sweets already in our supermarkets. Don't ask!! If it should be ringing at my door, I'll remain quiet!

The same happens in the UK although only a little bit but more straight after Halloween. It's television shopping channels like QVC which do Christmas in July that I've mentioned before that sell Xmas stuff in the summer. Info on new Salem's Lot film. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salem%27s_Lot_(film)

It’s one thing if people just don’t celebrate Halloween but let other people celebrate, it’s another to stop other people from celebrating. Most of the kids have families that celebrate Halloween but because of the religious people, the school can’t have Halloween. I understand Orthodox Jews not celebrating because they can’t celebrate Gentile holidays, but most Christians celebrate Halloween and don’t see anything wrong. It sucks that the Christian kids are left out of Halloween since most other Americans celebrate it, most Christian denominations don’t care about Halloween. The Orthodox Jewish kids know their families can’t celebrate Halloween and accept it, but not the Christian kids
