Episode 8.09 Backdoor Pilot Green Arrow and the Canaries

Announced this past September, principal photography on the backdoor pilot for the spinoff began in October. The pilot was written by Arrow showrunner Beth Schwartz, Arrowverse executive producer Marc Guggenheim and writers Jill Blankenship and Oscar Balderrama.



Brought to the present-day during Arrow's final season, Mia initially had a strained relationship with Oliver after growing up without him in her life. As the two prepared for the coming Crisis, they reconciled as Oliver began to mentor his daughter before his own untimely death.



Airing Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, Arrow stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Rick Gonzalez as Wild Dog, Juliana Harkavy as Black Canary, Katie Cassidy as Black Siren, Katherine McNamara as Mia Smoak, Joseph David-Jones as Connor Hawke and Ben Lewis as William Clayton-Queen.

Very interested, and dying to find out which version of Laurel we have post-crisis. Although I won't get my hopes up this spin-off will be picked up. Backdoor pilots mean nothing, look at Wayward Sisters.

But, I'll be interested in seeing this one. I believe Stephen Amell isn't part of it at all. Then the following week is the series finale of Arrow, I assume is more of a tribute to Oliver on Arrow, with flashbacks and maybe him as a ghost.

Well, I saw the backdoor pilot.

So we learn that this Laurel is still Earth 2 Laurel, who remembers crisis. Looks like Earth-Prime is going to continue to have doppelgangers on one earth.

What an episode for Laurel, she was driving the entire story, and was the first person we saw going right into mission mode coming from 2020, to stop something that will happen in 2041. Turns out she likely has been working with Sara or the Legends, who helped her.

The same is true of the Mia we meet after Laurel zaps her with that J’onzz-ring, see some of the old Mia's memories back.

The women worked very well together, and I liked the chemistry. Of course, the backdoor pilot ends on a cliffhanger, so we'll have to wait and see if it gets picked up or suffers the same fate as Wayward Sisters.

Yes, was nice to see Laurel calling the shots, and this might be the first time Katie Cassidy has had the most screentime in years. Amazing!!!

I heard about this. Looks like fans of Laurel/Katie Cassidy, were pleased when she got so much screentime. Hopefully, this isn't the same fate as Wayward Sisters, and this spin-off happens.

We'll have to wait and see. It might not get picked up. But I hear rumors, Katie Cassidy's Earth 2 Laurel might jump ship to Legends for Season 6, if the spin-off isn't picked up. Is so, it's a win/win for me. I'd be happy either way, we'll still get to see Laurel moving forward.
