Flash Promotes Brandon McKnight, aka Chester, to Series Regular for Season 7

What’s up, party people?!” A series regular promotion, that’s what. The Flash has upped Brandon McKnight, who plays tech whiz Chester P. Runk, to series regular for the upcoming seventh season, our sister site Deadline reports.



Chester was introduced in the Season 6 premiere as a scientist who stole old lab equipment and materials from a junkyard. During one of Chester’s live stream experiments, his device opened a black hole in Central City, where half of Chester’s consciousness resided. After Barry & Co. returned Chester’s consciousness to his body, the scientist was relocated to the Mental Augmentation Chamber (MAC) at S.T.A.R. Labs until his subatomic particles re-stabilized.



Upon first seeing the dailies of actor Brandon McKnight’s “absolutely wonderful performance” in the Season 6 opener, “The first thing I said was, ‘How quickly can we get this guy back?'” showrunner Eric Wallace previously told TVLine. “We want to get to know him a little better and let him interact with Team Flash.


But as in the comic books, will Chester become a cosmic-powered being? “The answer is no,” affirms Wallace. “At least not for a long time.”

Guess they have a space to fill, since they canned Hartley.

Well, looks like they found a new replacement for Ralph.

Chester, hopefully gets more development in Season 7. I know the new showrunner who got hired in S6, was African American. And since Iris has really gotten some great writing in S6, and I've found Candice really got to show her acting talent in S6, I really loved Iris this season. It's nice to finally see African Americans being written by actual people who can really write them well. I look forward to it.

Truth be told, I had a hard time remembering who Chester is!

Same here Tim. When I read the article, I had to literally look up who this guy was. I have no clue, and he only appeared twice in S6.

Guess, he is here to fill up the slot that Hartley's character had. But, they can't just insert this guy into the start of S7, they ended the season on a cliffhanger with needing to wrap up S6's plots. Better to bring this guy back later in S7.

This character has some big shoes to fill.

Indeed. The writers have to act quickly and they have lost one developed character.

I've only just seen this news, I had to google him because I couldn't remember who this was!

Can't say I'm particularly enthused, I didn't find him entertaining, but if the writers do their job that will hopefully change.

At first I had no idea who this character was!

I'm sure most of here don't remember him in S6, he was in about 2-3 episodes. Clearly replacing Harley, and given the current situation, no doubt CW ran at the chance to cast a POC actor.

I hope he gets some development, because, he was so boring, and I didn't find it at all interesting as a character to be promoted and join Team Flash.
