Well, the writer are just going to have to adjust to this new world we're in.
The writers did so in the 1980's, when AIDS came along, they can do so again.
Yeah, Just get creative.
I'm sure The CW will just roll with it, they have no choice, its either go with the changes with our new world, or just cancel the shows or delay them.
Lots of people like me, watch The CW shows to be entertained with great characters and plots. Honestly, who cares about relationship scenes, that's the least interesting part of the episodes for me.
I'm so glad one of my other favourite shows Lucifer didn't change too much moving to Netflix. But Tom Ellis always brings the fun and humour to the show, it's why I'm so glad Lucifer is more in tone to Supernatural and Buffy than The Boring (excuse me Chilling) adventures of Sabrina. At least they don't take themselves too seriously, and every episode is filled with so much fun and I don't see it as dark at all even if they have demons and angels.
It might be the only Netflix show I watch (okay I download) as it was a FOX show originally. But, it has a strong fanbase, that has managed to bring the show back from the dead twice.
If Lucifer became the tone of The Boring (excuse me Chilling) adventures of Sabrina, and Tom started playing Lucifer as dark as their Devil, I'd stopped watching, as I'm sure the millions of fans who watch would. The cast is just so much fun. I'm so glad when I read an interview where they stated it would be pretty similar show to what they had on Fox and what Netflix apparently wanted and it seems to be what everyone fell in love with in the first place, like me. Yes, they do show a tad more flesh than FOX, but it isn't extreme levels.

Oh yes, thankfully they didn't.
Can you imagine if this started out as a Netflix series, I sure don't think so. I loved his cameo on the crisis crossover, was so much fun. Although that was just an easter egg and not meant to be taken as canon to Lucifer's series.
They casted so well with Tom Ellis in the role of Lucifer. All his humour and funny side makes this show so great. And yeah, I agree the tone is much closer to Buffy than all the other dark and edgy shows.
I don't watch Chilling adventures of Sabrina (apart from the first two episodes), so I'm sure their Lucifer or devil is so not as fun as Tom's Lucifer, and Sunday great name it is the boring adventures of Sabrina alright.
Reminds me, isn't a new season coming out in a month. I'll have to check out the episodes and download them. Not giving Netflix my money. Although I still appreciate them saving the show. It's most of the shows that start out on Netflix I haven't enjoyed too much.
Yeah, they made it clear they'd not change the tone of the show given the move too much, the only thing that wouldn't pass the censors at FOX was seeing Tom Ellis' naked butt on screen once I believe, other than that no nudity at all to the extreme, I'm sure we'd all not want a Chilling Sabrina like show.

Riverdale's portrayal of Jughead arguably proves why this is an unrealistic expectation for CW shows. Jughead is asexual in the comics. And, he has been since Day One. He has zero interest in dating and romance. He has more love for burgers than he does any girl. So, what was the first thing Riverdale did with him? Hook him up with Betty! Since asexual people don't have interest in dating/romance/sex, they have no value to the CW, which thrives on cramming as much sex as the censors will allow into their shows. To the CW, Jughead being asexual would make him "boring" and "bad for ratings." If simply portraying a canonically asexual character as asexual is too tall of an order for the CW, can you even imagine them willingly cutting the sex and romance from their shows? Yeah I remember we brought this up a while back on the Riverdale board. It's sad they didn't do that with Jughead, but I doubt they ever would have, even if the show wasn't on the CW. I've never seen an asexual on television before (from memory). I sure am looking forward to a CW network forced to dial back all the romance. I don't watch their shows for that. Yeah, Just get creative.

Yeah, it is great that Lucifer has that tone and style. They struck gold with casting Tom in the role. The humour and fun is part of the charm of the show. So it is a good thing it started on FOX and not on Netflix or streaming. I'm sure nobody will remember Sabrina's version of Lucifer in five years time, but Tom Ellis as Lucifer will always be fondly remembered in years to come. Thank god for that. I'm so glad they kept it the same. I came across this article. Why Lucifer Season 4 Didn't Drop Any F-Bombs on NetflixAll I can say to this, is thank you producers for letting the show stay like it was, and for Netflix listening to them. So proud of the creators for not changing it. Like you said Katie in your reply, I don't think anyone will remember of care for the truly dark and evil Lucifer from Sabrina, but will always remember the fun and witty Lucifer played by Tom Ellis on Lucifer. It helps this show is not dark and edgy, and closer to Buffy. For me, I feel the tone is like that show. It's why I keep watching, and am so glad Netflix picked it up, so I can still download it.

Truth be told, Jughead/Betty are my least liked ship and pairing on the show. I wished they had him like in the comics. I just don't find their relationship believable, but so many of the younger crowd adore them. I'm not the target audience for the show. Luke Perry was how I got into this show in the first place, same with Madchen Amick who I remembered from Witches of East End. But I sadly feel this show will go the way of PLL and how I heard they ended the show, where the endgame has all the high school characters with their ships. Because the younger crowd will blast the writers if they don't on soclal media. Asexual people need to be represented and I would be a first for a teen drama or just on television in general. But on the CW, all characters end up having sex and or so soon. Why I was annoyed they didn't keep Macy on the reboot of Charmed a virgin far longer. It was relatable to lots of people watching to have a character in their late 20s still a virgin. I was hoping they'd keep her that way. Same with any teen drama, it would be nice to see more characters still virgins once the high school seasons are over. I always liked how It took Donna Martin seven seasons, and about 200 freaking episodes, and a lot of false starts before she finally lost her virginity on Beverly Hills, 90210. You compare that to today, and every single teen loses it the first season or two of the show. TV shows are way more sexed-up than they were in the 90s. It caused a massive stir when Brenda lost her virginity to Dylan on 90210, and it literally wasn't even shown onscreen. In general, sex scenes didn't really happen on 90210 until the college years, and even those seasons were still tame compared to more recent teen shows. I guess today's shows want to take advantage of more relaxed censorship. It's also possible that today's teens are more interested in fantasy than reality in their TV shows ( which isn't really hard to argue against). I also feel like some of these "teen" shows (especially Riverdale) are intended more for 20/30-somethings to live vicariously through high school-aged characters, hence all of the sex scenes and dark/edgy/adult plotlines. They really are way more sexed-up these days. Your right here, they do feel more intended for 20/30-somethings. I mean most of us here are not teens, and watch these. And the high school aspect is barely a huge focus.

And as Tom said in an interview so glad Netflix had been “adamant” that they wanted the show as it used to be.

Good to see us getting another season, after all, I heard those talks. I was thinking the upcoming S5 was it, but it isn't. I guess this means we'll have the show around until 2022, since Part 1 of S5 is due on August 21st, with Part 2 in early 2021 I guess.

Yes. It is nice that it will get an ending and a nice six-season run.

Me too. I'm just glad the show is the same as it was on FOX, I just wish all Netflix shows had a less dark and edgy tone. I get that Lucifer started out more in tone to Buffy or Supernatural, but why can't the rest of the shows be that way for those Netflix originals.

Six seasons is not a bad number to end on, IMO.

I don't know Sunday. I guess shows that start out on network television will retain the same feel moving to Netflix, but if they start out on Netflix, they can make them dark and edgy from the start, hence their failed Sabrina show.

Yeah, I hated Sabrina. As we talked about, Tom's Lucifer is so much better than the dark and edgy Sabrina one.
Part of the appeal of this show is how much fun it is, and Tom's Lucifer is my favourite one, all his witty lines is why I love him. I wonder if Constantine might show up on Lucifer in a cameo or guest role.
I heard the actor who played Chuck on Supernatural is guest starring in S5 in an unknown role, and the actor who played the Trickster is directing an episode of Supernatural in S5 again, he did one in S4.
