Jennifer Love Hewitt starred on this show that ran Friday nights on CBS from 2005 to 2010.
The show followed Melinda Gordon (Jennifer's character) and her amazing ability. She could see and talk to Earthbound ghosts. The show would focus on her trying to get these ghosts to cross over into the light. This ability was passed down to Melinda from her grandmother (to whom she was very close to). Although Melinda's mother also had this ability, she did not embrace it like her mother and daughter had.
Although Melinda's husband, Jim (David Conrad) did not share his wife's abilities, he was always there to help when he could. Over the course of the show, Melinda's group would also include her best friend, Delia, Delia's son, Ned, and close friend Eli Green (played by Jennifer's then boyfriend Jamie Kennedy).
This show was very good and well written. And unlike another show I could name, it never abandoned its core premise. There were ghosts, and that was it (no stupid magical creatures here, thank you).
I was sad to see this show end in 2010, but on reflection at least it got to go out with its head held high.
Ghost Whisperer, all five seasons, is out on DVD. Try it, you'll like it.

I always felt bad for Melinda when the ghost of a murder victim sought her out. The ghost could tell Melinda who killed them, but Melinda could hardly go to the police. Who would believe her? They would think that she was nuts.
So she always had to risk her own life in these cases. Luckily, the murderer, when knowing that the ghost of their victim was around, usually ended up confessing all.

Watched it from time to time, not all episodes, I have to admit. It was interesting for me when her husband had been killed and returned in another person.

A lot of fans got upset about that at first. They were under the impression that David Conrad, who played Melinda's husband, Jim, was being written off the show. The producers went out of their way to assure the fans that it wasn't going to happen that way.
They had that storyline all mapped out, and it worked.

Jennifer Love Hewitt's portrayal of Melinda would've made a great base personality wise for Charmed's Paige which people have commented on and also been a good actress to play her instead of Rose had she been chosen obviously.

They should continues this series in novels. That way, they could continue the story without worrying about actor availability and such.
Besides, I wouldn't mind having more Ghost Whisperer.

I've seen some Ghost Whisper opening credits made by fans on YouTube featuring Shannen, Holly, Rose and Alyssa which are really good.

GW had some good Halloween episodes. Rather fitting, since this show dealt with ghosts

I remember this show fondly. Still don't know why they killed off her original friend from season 1. Was this the case of Andy from season 1 where the actor wanted to leave?

I have no idea why they did that. I guess that Aisha Tyler wanted to leave.
Then they brought in Camryn Manheim, and she was on for the rest of the show.

I'm surprised that there has been no talk of reviving/rebooting Ghost Whisperer.
If they do, I would hope for a continuation. They left a lot of loose ends.

Still annoying that shows that got closure and lasted more than five years revive. Ghost Whisperer is the perfect show to revisit and bring back.
Melinda's son would be a teenager. Why not.

Yeah, I would welcome this show back.
Granted they may not be able to pick up exactly where they left off, but they can at least bring us up to date on what Melinda and the family have been up to in the years since the series ended.
Yeah, Aiden would be in his teens now. I wonder how he is coping with life as someone who can talk to ghosts.

They could explore Melinda's family perhaps if they didn't go down the Aiden route through a prequel series since we knew her grandmother talked to spirits.
Maybe past ancestors had the gift which could be explored and how Melinda's family came to be able to do what they do too.
