No one asked for this.
Legends is still airing. Matt Ryan is STILL Constantine in movies and TV. Sums up every reboot in general though. Hope it doesn’t pass the pilot stage.
They are also planning to reboot Lucifer or the character for a new version under a different name (a show that is freaking still on the air and still has S5 part B and S6 to air).
I'd rather they revive Constantine with Matt Ryan for a second season. Of course, they won't, because they need to market this reboot with POC. Enough giving POC characters reboots, come up with new material with POC leads.

WHAT??? WHY. Nobody asked for a reboot, they want a revival of the Matt Ryan series. And what's this of them rebooting or wanting to do another Lucifer series. You have to be kidding me. A darker reboot. Why am I not surprised, it has to be dark and gritty. And of course, all those suckers are going to gobble this up, because a streaming series is the trend of good quality shows according to some (not all). Matt Ryan is Constantine, and he is the current one at the moment. The only people who'll love the reboot, are the ones who want darker stuff, and or never saw Matt Ryan in the role before.

Are they allowed to do this? Isn't the Constantine character currently in the possession of the Arrowverse?

*blink, blink* Okay, I may not have watched the Constantine series but I like the character in "Legends". What have I missed here, again?

Are they allowed to do this? Isn't the Constantine character currently in the possession of the Arrowverse? Guess not. DC or WB have the final say. As long as DC don't force Arrowverse to write off Constantine because they insist HBO Max gets him now. I'll be okay. But still sucks as fans have been wantinh Matt Ryan's show to be revived for years. But won't happen now. They want a POC Constantine and Matt Ryan ain't that.

We already have Constantine on TV courtesy of Matt Ryan whose also appeared in Justice League Dark films so there's no need to reboot the character the same with Lucifer despite the fact it's on the lasts series.
I'd much rather see a continuation of Constantine's own series if another network picked that up then.

Exactly. This new version was neither required nor desired.

And as I posted in the Legends thread with the new press at Comic-Con.
We lost John on Legends, because they insist on making this reboot, and DC likely said NO can't have two.

*sigh* yet again DC putting restrictions back in place. But what can you do. They clearly know that Matt Ryan is killing it and so beloved as John Constantine, they want their reboot actor to do well. It's just as bas as rebooting Lucifer when the freaking show is coming to an end after the next season, by turning Lucifer into a woman for their new take.
These streaming shows are killing franchises.
