Turns out that Gil Bobbsy is the one that took the shroud. A man, that Gil suspects murdered his mother (and disposed of her body) 14 years before, is dying. Gil wants to use the shroud to bring said man back to life,to get the truth out of him.
However, Nancy convinced Gil to let her investigate the crime. Gil agree, subject to time limit. In the course of the investigation, the Drew Crew discover that not only was the man innocent, there was no murder. Gil and Amanda's mother is alive. The reason she left is because she had mental issues (she told Amanda, but not Gil). Once he realizes the truth, Gil returns the shroud to Nancy. Meanwhile, it seems that Ace has traced the mother to New Mexico.
Poor Bess is still distraught over her family cutting her off. She has taken to lying on the couch of the Drew house, crying. Later, Carson comes in and wants to run a speech by her, and that seems to perk her up. Bess soon realizes that this was a ruse on Carson's part to cheer her up, and it worked. Bess, you don't need the Marvin family, when you have the Drew Crew.
And that came in handy later, when Odette, wanting to be free of George's body and join her lover on the other side, plans to jump off a cliff. Bess and Ned find her and manage to talk her down. Bess gives the same speech to Odette that Carson gave to her earlier. Looks like George and Odette are going to try and make this work.
Ace and Amanda have hooked up. And it seems that Nancy and Gil are also headed into a relationship.
