Sorry for this one being so late. I was under the impression that Nancy Drew would be preempted, due to President Biden's address. When I found out that it wasn't, it was too late. However, I was able to watch the episode at the W Channel website (the channel that carries the show in Canada), so we're all good to go.
In this episode, Nancy heads to Moonstone Island, and finds a young girl living there. The girl, calling herself Birdie, has no memories of how she got there. However, she tells Nancy that "they" don't want her to leave the island. However, Nancy takes Birdie back to the mainland.
Soon, however, it seems that Birdie has been followed. The Drew Crew discover that ghost of privateers, from the War Of 1812, also inhabit Moonstone Island, and are not afraid to drive off intruders, including using lethal force on boats that approach too close to the island.
Further investigation reveals that Birdie's actual name is Elizabeth, and she had been reported missing, along with her parents, five years earlier. The Drew Crew assume that the ghosts are responsible, and manage to capture them. Elizabeth is returned to her family, namely her grandmother and uncle.
However, Nancy begins to suspect that all is not as it seems. Why would the ghosts have killed Elizabeth's parents, but saved her? It it soon revealed that Elizabeth's uncle was responsible for the boat accident that killed her parents (he'd been using his store for a money laundering operation, that Elizabeth's parents had found out about). The ghosts had saved her. Elizabeth's uncle is soon arrested and Elizabeth frees the ghost. Nancy figures that the ghost saving Elizabeth has made them see the errors of their ways and they can move on.
We see that yes, George is basically raising her sisters.
And she seems to want to help Odette. She suggests trying to track down Odette's lover, Mary, if they can. If Odette was earthbound, they perhaps she is too. Problem is that Mary could be anywhere by now. Where do they start?
Odette and Bess end up watching a movie together. Bess is lucky to be living now. Had she been alive in Odette's time, she too would have been persecuted.
However, Nancy's credibility had taken a hit, due to her recanting her testimony against Everett Hudson. And she says that this will help her get inside the Hudson's to help stop them. However, Ned is not convinced and fears that Nancy has gone over to the other side.
