Nostalgia trip, number 2 for me.
Since I downloaded some missing episodes from the series, I decided to watch it again from the start.
"Simon & Simon" is about two brothers running a PI office in San Diego. Well, Rick and A.J. are as different as night and day.
Rick is a Vietnam vet who doesn't care about rules whereas his younger brother A.J. is a conservative with suits and playing tennis. Rick is driving a Dodge Power Wagon and A.J. a Camaro (several types) in the series. Their support comes from their mother Cecilia who often has to remind her boys about their senses.
Interesting fact though that Rick is older than A.J., the actors only have a three month age difference in reality (both born in 1947).
In Germany I never got to see the whole series (aired only 135 plus movie) whereas in the USA there were eight seasons (156 episodes plus movie). Another difference is the airing time: In the USA from 1981 to 1989, in Germany from 1986 to 1990 (latest 1995 movie).
My first encounter with brothers and I liked, naturally, the blond one: A.J.!
CAST:
Gerald McRaney - Richard "Rick" Simon
Jameson Parker - Andrew Jackson "A.J." Simon
Mary Carver - Cecilia Simon
Eddie Barth - Myron Fowler (eps. 1 - 36)
Jeannie Wilson - Janet Fowler (eps. 1 - 43)
Tim Reid - Lt. M.P. "Downtown" Brown (eps. 43 - 127)
Joan McMurtrey - Lt. Abigail Marsh (eps. 128 - 156)
plus Marlowe, the dog
What I loved the most was the humor here and naturally the difference of the brothers! So funny many times!
EDIT: Some infos are taken from Wikipedia (both English and German)!
