But I forgot the titles: "The suitcase of the Chinese man" (German) or "Smiles we left behind" (original). Anyway, I managed the promised article. Just hope that it's readable. And the mass of pics again. The age of the show is really important here.

To give a short statement: Our German version was really shortened. Tomorrow then more - after the original one in full length. Cody met his old girlfriend, Janet Ingrim whereas Nick is suspicious of her. Again, more tomorrow.

Why do they shorten them over there?

I don't know yet. I might have an answer tonight when I watch the original version. Why they made a two hour episode to only one episode? As said, I may know tonight.

Actually, after watching it now I see no reason why they shortened this two parter to one. The only one I could think of that it aired maybe during the afternoon. First the story arc: We see a Chinese man coming to San Francisco but soon there is a difference, noticed by an author named Dean Parker at a hotel later on. Meanwhile, the trio is out to get their laundry from a Chinese laundry in Chinatown where Lisa, the owner, is getting married this day, yet her cousin Danny Lee is missing. Only his suitcases have arrived in King Harbor. Soon, the trio offers to help and so Murray calls an old friend of his, Jerome who helps them out on his boat. There they meet also Janet Ingrim, Cody's old love. More to them later. Anyway, while the three of them follow some leads on a map, they also land in a governmental operation. Nick and Murray do the lead work, yet when it counts Cody is there. After finding out that Danny Lee is working as a spy and that he was replaced by another one from China named Mark Fei (or similar) and now tricks the government by killing the agents. Soon they get a hint and use the Mimi to go after him. Cody goes down on the boat and after a fight kills the man. Second the love story: Cody and Janet Ingrim are definitely old college sweethearts but broke up, because Janet got a job in Washington whereas Cody then quit the college and went to the army. When they meet on the boat, the old feelings quickly return, yet also the old problems. Sometimes, Cody and Janet are good friends and the next minute they fight. I thought they are like fire and water. Nick knows their history and still doesn't like her - at all. Still, the love is there but Cody and Janet are too different. Again, Janet gets a good job offer in London but she's willing to drop it just to stay with Cody in King Harbor, yet he refused. *sighs* A really complicated relationship which made me sad at the end. Some pics again: Sorry for the strange sizes of the pics but it is that way.
EDIT: I forgot to mention the strange endings. My version ends with Janet's press conference and her going up the steps whereas the original one ends with the guys ready to fly back to King Harbor, yet with Cody looking really sad to the sky and the airplane.
Tomorrow then welcome back to the Guirlini family! Meaning "The sunken treasure" (German) or "The Pirate and the Princess" (original).

So there is no reason to shorten the episodes then.

For me not at all. FYI, the complete episode was released first on DVD, also in English. And yes, here all three seasons are available.

So, we start with Murray reading a story of the little island Martigua where they are invited by Angelo, Giovanna and Tony. They need help with their latest expedition about an old pirate's treasure. Cody and Nick are not happy but play along. Soon they notice that a boat is following them, owned by Captain Scofield, yet there is someone playing double. Again the financier, Mr. Hawkins, who hides military weapons in a cave what Nick, Cody and Tony find out while diving. Only Giovanna's new friend is the right hand of Hawkins and well, Cpt. Scofield helps them. In the end, everyone gets what they deserve. Some pics again: As an extra: the trio as pirates!! Had to use the download now. Caught me by surprise when I found it by accident. lol Tomorrow then "With hard bandages" (German) or "Playing Hardball" (original). P.S. Last week of the Riptide. On Sunday it's the end.

The white haired chap is Cesar Romero, who played the Joker on the old Batman show.

I recognized the guy who played Joker in the '60s Batman series as well obviously.
He doesn't look much changed except for the white then.

I thought his description of the trio very funny. Cody the mustache, Nick the pilot and Bossa.
