Note that I didn't say sister. There is a reason for that, which I'll get to, a little further along here.
In the S4 premier, we are introduced to Kaela (Lucy Barrett), who lives in Philadelphia. She works as a mechanic, at a service station, but it also a talented artist. It is also revealed that she is a cancer survivor. For the last several months, Kaela has been having strange dreams, which inspire her to draw pictures of two woman she has never met. Of course, these two women are Mel and Maggie Vera.
Eventually, when the three woman meet, Kayla is amazed to see that both these women actually exist.
At the same time, Mel and Maggie realized that this is the "other" that they are supposed to track down (six months have passed since the loss of Macy) .
Of course, Kaela has hard time accepting all this. However, soon her powers begin to manifest. Said powers are that of "imagination manifestation", basically what that means is that she has the power to make drawings real (such as an apple, that Josefina eats, with interesting results).
Harry, wanting more information, turns detective and heads for Philadelphia, to get more information on Kaela. He finds that Kaela's full name is Michaela, tying her to the Vera family, as her name starts with an M. And Kaela is adopted into her currently family, but there is no birth mother listed.
This was the kicker, Kaela is related to Mel and Maggie, but just how hasn't been revealed yet. Is she a sister, or something else entirely?
And that's all we know for now.

So Kaela's power is thought projection like the teenager Kevin had in original Charmed who become an Elder at the end that also drew pictures which came to life obviously?
Most likely how this person is related to the Vera family will be revealed sooner rather than later then.

I'm sure she'll be related to them in some way. Can't have a Power of Three if they are not related in some way.

She is related. The question is, just how.

Yeah, it was pretty good. Kaela wants nothing to do with this new life that is forced on her. She comes around when her best friend, Bryn, is gravely wounded when an evil being attacks. Kaela decides to move in with Mel and Maggie, kind of. The bus, that Kaela lives in, winds up parked behind the Vera house.
Bryn is saved, and returns to Philly, promising to keep Kaela's secret safe.
As for Kaela's exact link to Mel and Maggie, that still hasn't been revealed.

Kaela's connection to Mel and Maggie still hasn't been revealed. Looks like the writers are working to plan in regards to the character. As to what said plan is, I have no idea.
When new info is revealed, I will post it.

Okay, Tim. I suspect either some fans might be patient in terms of the connection Kaela has to the Vera sisters if it's part of an ongoing storyline whilst others could be put off and will want to know that sooner maybe.
Perhaps unlike OG Charmed new Charmed wants to choose when they reveal said relative's connection then as so to differentiate from when the original did that straight away with Paige.

That might be the case.
One must remember that, unlike what happened with the original show and Paige, this storyline was probably planned out, months in advance. The writers knew that they would be losing a sister, so they had time to plan how that loss would affect the show.
The writers know just who and what Kaela is, but that information hasn't been revealed to the audience yet.

I'm enjoying the new season. I smile when I see Macy's photo. It makes me so happy, since the OG show couldn't with Shannen being fired.
One thing, I don't care for Mel and Ruby. I'm not invested in them, and hope they remain broken up. Although, she appeared in an episode of S4 so far. Mel has been through so many love interests. I feel its time they just let her stay single. I'm upset that they gave up on Niko and Jada from Season 1. They were more interesting characters. But that's just me.

I totally agree. Mel and Ruby are so boring. There's like no chemistry. Mel had better chemistry with Abigail. Abimel forever. I'm still on the hope that they bring poppy back for season 5.

I'm glad, I'm not alone. They have zero chemistry. Honestly, the second she was introduced and the more I saw them together, I was so bored out of my mind. Yes, Mel has some way better chemistry with Abigail.

And then in that one episode, it confirmed that abigail actually had feelings for Mel. That was just like. The best episode for me.

Since Madeleine Mantock left of her own accord, and under good terms, she would naturally have no issue with them using pictures of her, or having flashbacks in which Macy appeared.
And, since the writers knew this was coming, they had time to prepare for it. It was a total a** pull, like what happened 20 years ago.
