Several months have passed since the events of the last episode, We see that Inara is a benevolent dictator of a world where magical beings happily co-exist. Happy because Inara has brainwashed them all.
Among the brainwashed are the Charmed Ones. That is until Kaela accidentally uses the teapot that has Dev's last song to her in it. That snaps her out of it. Turns out that strong grief counters the brainwashing and Kaela uses pictures of Macy to snap Mel and Maggie back to normal.
The Charmed Ones make a grim discovery, while there are plenty of magical beings in this new world, there are no signs of any normal humans. Turns out that Inara's spell turned them all into plants.
The big catch is that restoring things will not be so easy. The spell cannot be reversed, even Inara can't do that.
Through Harry, the sisters find a solution, time travel. They must travel back to the point where Dev's funeral is taking place. That is the only way to save the world. Harry makes it clear that other events, such as Macy and Dev's deaths cannot be altered.
Since time travel is involved, the writers did a Kill Them All thing here. Inara manages to kill ALL the main characters. However, before their deaths, Maggie and Kaela manage to send a video cassette, with the needed information on it, back into the past.
Back at the point where Dev's funeral is happening, Josefina is at the house, when the tape appears. She finds it as the episode ends.
And now only the finale remains.

From the YouTube clips, I saw the episode reminded me of the Utopia storyline from the original Charmed season 7 done slightly differently but with the same type of thing. Remaking the world then.

Kind of.
Except in Inara's New World Order, no humans are allowed.

I gathered that yes. It looks like the last episode could be a play on 'Forever Charmed' also done differently with Josefina receiving the tape.
Hopefully, for people watching which I'm sure will happen the reboot doesn't make the same mistakes OG Charmed did concerning the PO3/flash-forwards and everything.

I'm sure it won't.
Of course, unlike the original show, the time travel involve saving the whole world, not just the sisters.

This felt like a Classic Charmed episode. With the Avatars arc and new world.
So looks like they'll be time travel involved in the finale like the OG series finale.
Also hear the Halliwell manor appears in the last episode. Too late to get any fan of the Classic OG series to check it out. But perhaps that’s what they wanted to do in S5. We'll never see that. But Diana must be from the Classic OG series universe.

Except just a tape went back into the past this time.
Wonder how that will happen. The house they used in the original series is in L.A. The reboot shot in Vancouver. Guess it will be either stock footage or a photograph.

Except just a tape went back into the past this time. THANK GOD! We don't need travelling to the future as well. THEY REALLY FILMED THERE! Guess, we'll both find out when we watch it.

Me too. There's lots of press from the finale. But, I'm looking away until I've seen the finale. The link for the finale was up this morning, and might watch it tonight.

The OG fans will either be excited or outraged.
