Today I purchased this. Which I bought to start filming things on my YouTube channel depending what content I do actually. It's called the DJI Osomo Mobile 4 gimbal which YouTubers use outside or in with their smartphones like a selfie stick to film or take pictures handsfree. I'd researched this online as a cheap way to try and record something without paying £500 for a dedicated camera or camcorder otherwise. The price was £85 overall. The product connects to your phone via Bluetooth and has an on/off button which switches the gimbal off and on. Other buttons include one that pans your phone to portrait or landscape mode, a record button for photos and film, a trigger button that locks your phone in place, plus the ability to charge your device up like a power bank whilst photographing or recording. There is a dedicated app but my main phone doesn't support that so I can't use it unfortunately but it's not necessary to have. A tripod attachment features as well for good stabilizing if your sitting down filming somewhere. I have yet to get used to it and so will try it out one weekend not working before doing anything major overall then.

Aha. Still expensive though in my eyes. Good luck then, Katherine.

My friend thought the price would be a lot less than what I mentioned as well. He knew what I'd bought though having heard of those types of things himself.

Never seen anything like that before.

So cool. That's a pretty good price for 85, given how much gadgets can be. But, maybe that's cheaper and a bargain to me in Aussie Dollars which I think is $130 AU dollars.
I'd never pay 500 or more. Anything from 50-160 is a good price for me. Depends.

Camcorders which aren't like what they used to be where you steadied them on one shoulder and looked through a viewfinder are now small and compact overall and reasonable enough to use also doing out and about YouTube video vlogs as well.
Good starter ones like a Sony I saw in Argos range from £150 upward with a built-in microphone and main camera view lens that can be flipped over for recording oneself or whatever's ahead of course.

Not so much a Steam Off, so I moved the posts here.

No worries and thanks, Tim. If other members have or buy any new technology they can comment on that themselves if they wish to do so perhaps.

It looks cool. Good luck on your videos Katy. I'm usually very camera shy myself and would probably screw it up

Oh, I'm shy also in terms of cameras myself Adam. I don't like being photographed although have taken selfies of myself or mum and my sister then but don't post or share them online except for last Christmas when it was selfie day and I posted one of me on my Imgur page or did a short film of myself this week to introduce my YouTube page.
I mainly bought the gimbal to stabilize my smartphone so that can be held in place if I want to film anything or use the tripod attachment otherwise because I would like to try a different kind of content for my YouTube channel in addition to the videos I already make.
My gripe with the gimbal currently is that I can get my phone-centered whether that's vertically or horizontally but it moves about and doesn't stay in place when walking despite having a lock button that you are supposed to press twice to elevate that obviously. If I can get that right then I can start capturing videos or pictures unaided then.
If the tripod attachment is on and my phone's not moved I don't have any problems like when I filmed myself Sunday evening but otherwise eh at the minute.

With pictures being taken of me, I have no problem but with selfies I'm also careful. I don't post them at all, only with an app where I can't avoid it but not on Google etc.

Does your camera take selfies, Tim? I assume depending on how old that is it can also film videos for a short time also?
