I wanted to like this episode, I really did. However, after seeing it, I wonder if the CW made the right call, sparing this show, while sending Legends and Batwoman to the executioner's block.
When you look at it, this episode is just filler. It does nothing to advance the main plot (and, to tell you the truth, I'm having a hard time figuring out just what the main plot is anymore).
Once again, Barry is sidelined in his own show. Most of the action is happening to other characters, while he is off talking to Thawne.
And while the main plot, involving Allegra and Chester trying to protect a witness from group of ruthless criminals was good, it really seemed out of place. You could do a story like that on any normal cop show (and they have, many, many times). The only difference was that they had high tech and meta human powers this time.
The only big thing was the end scene, when Barry meets the new speedster, someone called Meena Dhawan.
Caitlin sends a video, telling everyone that she is going away for a while. No doubt because her actor, Danielle Panabaker, is pregnant and they have to temporarily write her out of the show.
And when are they gonna notice that IRIS IS MISSING!?

Just your luck Tim. You missed a good one last episode which was Barry centric and came back to this one.
But I get why Barry's screentime is less. Grant has asked for less. The role has gotten exhausting for him over the years with long hours. Probably why show is likely ending next season with a shorter season. CW renewed the show and had been trying to get Grant to renew for a ninth for some time. Least it'll have time to wrap which Legends didn't get.
This one wasn't the best. After some good previous episodes. This one was weak.
I did like Allegra fighting Dr. Light and Sunshine was kind of awesome. But she really needs to get a proper codename.
So Meena's "assosciate" is obviously Thawne...except it's Matt Letscher Thawne!? He's back!? And is somehow not the Reverse-Flash? What is going on? How is Thawne in the present-day? How are there two Thawnes?

How are there two Thawnes? They REALLY had to convince Grant for S9. It sounds like he'll be done after 9. Better to end it then. But apart from Superman and Lois it's still was second highest rated DC show. I get why CW won't let it go. Allerga was great in this episode.

As I said, I didn't mind the Allegra story, but it just seemed better suited to a generic cop show than The Flash.
If Grant wants out, he should tell them that he will do one more season (9) and that's it.
It's time for this show to end, I mean the Arrowverse is finished. Superman & Lois doesn't need it.
