Jon Cryer is interested in playing a new version of Lex

Jon has a point. The Lex on Supergirl really worked for that show. But it wouldn't work on S&L since the tone is different.

But Jon's a good actor. He has decades of experience in the industry. I'm sure he would love to play a different version of Lex. I'm all here for it. I mean Jenna came back to play a different version of Lucy. Jon can do the same.

I'd love to see a different take on Lex.

I'd love to see Jon back playing a different version of Lex. I hope they do take him up on that offer, seeing as he retweeted that reply.

Would be nice to see flashbacks told from the past with Lex. I mean they've given us Clark/Lois' flashback past. It would be nice to see that explored later.

I'd imagine, if the show ever moves back to Metropolis they could reintroduce Lex as a villain.

The return of Jenna Dewan as a new version of Lucy Lane proves this can be done.

Besides, Jon Cryer is the best Lex in decades, and I would enjoy seeing him again.  Lex was originally Superman's enemy, after all.

Lex is much too important to the Superman mythology. I'd be shocked if he never appeared.

But the show is doing a good thing. Putting some distance between his SG run and S&L. Even though we know S&L isn't part of the Arrowverse.

Maybe they are saving the best villain for last in S4 or S5.

I wouldn't mind seeing Jon play a new version of Lex if he wants and S&L choose the actor of course.

As it's already been said, Lucy Lane was rebooted so why can't the Luthor billionaire be also.

People here are right that the Supergirl version of Lex was the correct one for the show.

Considering he's Superman's arch-nemesis first and foremost yes there should be a proper backstory on the character than what we got during the Arrowverse crossovers and Supergirl herself.

Jon Cryer clearly likes playing the character, so if he wants to do it, go for it.   It will be interesting to see how this Lex would be different from the one we saw on Supergirl (just as Lucy Lane was different from her Supergirl incarnation).

Exactly. He's a big figure. I see him on S&L eventually. It's more a matter or when not if.

That's right. We know it exists. But where Lex is currently, we have no idea. Be fun to see what they'll do with him.

I keep imagining Lex having a son or daughter. Lois and Clark did that bringing in Lex's kids into stories. I can picture the Kent boys running into them unaware whose father he or she really is.
