Jana from everything I've heard about your boss he sounds like an absolute psychopath prone to constant mood swings and tantrums, hope you find something soon!

That boss sounds horrible, with everything you told us, Jana. He sounds like those typical bosses thinking they can abuse their power over everyone just because they have a higher position. Doesn't give them the right to treat their staff horribly.

Yeah, well, thanks guys. Tomorrow I have the same procedure like today. An early start with driving and some office but therefore an early end. Still, my main job is the office and not the taxi driving. Like I say, my boss seems to be stuck in the past - and seems to neglect his own work. That's the impression I get, though I'm over a year there meanwhile. I pray silently that something happens this month - joblike.

Well, I'm frustrated again. My boss doesn't seem to care about my work, and for that I'll have to get up an hour earlier to drive the cab/taxi again. It's very strange with him. I have the feeling that Friday might be free again, just like yesterday. Never mind, I just hope that soon enough a new job will appear at the horizon, with some more stability and all. *sighs*
You need to leave this job. This person is making your miserable.

I would if I could but I need some income still. Yes, some days my boss can be very nice but unfortunately, he can also explode very quickly - and yes, we're both completely different generations with different POVs.
My nerves are more and more decreasing and I'm really happy at the weekends. Mainly.

Well, this situation has to change soon, otherwise you might have a nervous breakdown.

Indeed. Weekends don't help here since they are way too short.

That's the problem with the weekends though especially when you work all week, they just fly by. I've always been in favor of the switch to 4/3, Mon-Thurs the work week and then Fri-Sun being the weekend. Plenty of studies around the world have indicated more productivity from workers across 4 days in comparison to 5. It works, but no-one wants to shake off the old status-quo despite how beneficial it might be.

I've heard of some companies which are trying this kind of work with 4/3. I'd also prefer a job where I can decide how much hours I want to work each day. But still have some free time and all with all well paid. Sounds like a dream, don't you think?

Wouldn't that be nice for everyone then? And now with the cost of living going up, especially in the UK schools have thought about that type of option because it might be too much for some of them to heat classrooms in winter without more public funding avaliable.

Unlike so many. When U have work or somewhere to be I can go to bed early and wake up extra early if need be. Won't happen. But I'd be fine starting work earlier than 9 at 7. People are always already exhausted in the afternoon working till 5. I just hate working in winter coming out of work to find it's dark and my days over.
If I could pick my hours. I'd work 7-3. I'd feel better (I'm already exhausted by 2 PM) and be able to get things down each day before it's dark in Winter by 5. Once work is done at 5. It's home have dinner and by then it's already time for bed or I'm dozed off.
I've always hated the 9-5 work standard. It just drains you.

I agree with you, Matt, tough I only work six hours per day but still I'm exhausted each day. I'm happy when I'm at my home again. Never mind, for my new job I'd go up even with my hours again but then it should be paid well and not only the minimum standards.
Yeah, in winter it's especially hard. Getting up in the dark and go home in the dark. Been through that once as well. So not fun!

I work early in the mornings doing breakfast club for the YMCA from 7-9 so I get up around 6 am then.
At first, it was tiresome getting used to the early mornings again but I got used to that a while later anyway.
Getting home I have 2 hours before my midday job at the school again so I have time for breakfast and a cup of tea.
Lunchtime depends on when I leave the school and can either get home before driving to the main YMCA for after-school club or having to eat in the building itself due to time constraints which can be between 30-40 minutes normally.
I've worked 10-hour shifts in holiday club before with no breaks due to the number of children we get which can be tiring and stressful at the same time but I only do that every so often so I kind of put up with it for the extra money there.
I couldn't do that sort of thing Monday to Friday every week though so I'm glad to get the breaks in between the three jobs I do then.

Some say that, with hi-tech, within fifty years, humans may not have to work anymore.
Course, that's too late for any of us.
