Given the fact that Queen Elizabeth II has already passed away and it is now her son, King Charles III who is on the throne, a lot of apprehension over the British Royal Family has taken place over the past few days including the issue on whether or not it was right for Camilla to become "Queen Consort" instead of just "Princess Consort". For those who do not recall, while Camilla was Charles' first love, it does not undo the fact that Camilla consented to enter into an affair with Charles while they were both married.
Obviously tension rose even more when Princess Diana died and Charles eventually married Camilla - so much tension that even Charles' own children had an on-and-off relationship with their stepmother (in that there were times that they spoke of her amicably and times where she just ended up adding even more tension in situations where Charles ends up having disagreements with his sons, particularly the current Prince of Wales, William).
The tension died down a bit when Camilla chose to go as "Duchess of Cornwall" when she is able to use the "Princess of Wales" title after her marriage to Charles in 2005 out of respect to the previous titleholder (Princess Diana) but came back again when the Queen said sometime last year (or the year before) that she is alright with Camilla becoming the Queen Consort when the time comes.
Now that it's actually happened, we're once again back in the era where so much tension arises whenever Camilla is brought up.
That being said, I'd like to ask members of this forum - what are your HONEST thoughts on Camilla, the Queen Consort?

Of course, the result of those two having an affair whilst both were married did taint Camilla afterward with her being known as the woman who stole Charles from Diana which didn't sit well with the British public that loved Diana overall but it did change once Camilla took the title Duchess Of Cornwall as you said evermorerose . What happens now concerning her we'll have to see as Charles takes up the kingship of the UK. Since the Queen's passing, it was talked about whether Charles should have accepted being king because of his age and actually passed that onto William who some people thought was better suited for the role considering how the next generation of the monarchy is touting itself all modernistic and everything with some folks wondering could that survive past Charles with William, Harry, and their kids then?

IMO, Camilla does not deserve the hate she has gotten over the years.
She and Charles knew each other long before Diana entered the picture. Yes, that does not justify them carrying on the way they did, but Camilla did not just appear, there was a prior relationship. And Charles didn't up and marry Camilla the next day after Diana's death, it happened eight years later.
Besides, the Royal line is secure through William and his kids. Let Charles and Camilla be.

I think that was a compromise from the late Queen to give Camilla the title "Queen Consort". The traditions have a high profile in the British monarchy. Charles and Camilla now need to adjust to their new roles. It's been a long waiting time here.

It'll be less of a wait for William than Charles, assuming King Charles lives as long as his mother. But William has about 20-25 years until he'll likely be king.

I think Camilla has gained more acceptance over the years.
There were other factors that drove Charles and Diana apart. To blame it all on Camilla makes no sense to me.

Camilla isn't completely at fault here. If anything, Charles has more fault for, among other things, not asserting that he should be with Camilla when they were still both unmarried. If Charles' mother, the Queen, was able to pull off convincing her entire family to let her go for a marriage that they were against of (and mind you, at this time, she was already next in line to the throne; she fell in love with Prince Philip after her father became George VI), I have no idea why Charles never had the same strength when faced with the same situation. It's no wonder the Queen had some doubt over Charles (that only disappeared when she got much older).

Still, things did work out for them in the long run.

Still, things did work out for them in the long run. That's true, and I'm honestly happy that things did not get worse for them and they actually chose to use their second chance wisely.
