Race Across The World is a BBC 1 reality tv series where 5 teams have to reach a destination in a particular place starting from one area and ending up at the other then.

All team's are given £3000 each which is the price of 1 airfare but they can't take a plane obviously.
Before the start, everyone's given a map, a book full of job adverts, and GPS tracker that directs them to the checkpoint when there near it actually.
They have to bypass 8 areas along the way and the first team to arrive leave before the next team and so on then.
Travel can be taken by bus, boat, train, taxi, or hitchhike naturally.
If funds get low teams can work jobs to top that up.
Although technology isn't allowed having people look things up for them is of course.
The first series was from London to Singapore and the second from Mexico City to Ushuaia Argentina.
Series 3 airing currently has people going from Vancouver Canada to St John's Newfoundland venturing past Dawson, Churchill, Mountain Banff, Manitoulin Island, Quebec, Liverpool, and St John's the end.
One team is eliminated at a certain checkpoint if they arrive last which happens early in the race.
Problems can arise like buses going late no tickets available for trains and having to pay lots for accommodation so teams have to be frugal about how their budget is spent.
Episode 6 had teams venturing either through Ottawa, then Montreal, or Toronto and upward to Quebec City.
One team thought they were in London when in Ottawa because of the similarities there.
