deadline.com/2023/06/superman-and-lois-renewed-10-episode-season-4-the-cw-1235415132/Superman & Lois’ Renewed For 10-Episode Season 4 At The CWAs reported by Deadline earlier this evening and later confirmed by the CW, Superman & Lois and All American: Homecoming are getting picked up for next season alongside previously renewed tentpoles All American and Walker. Freshman series Gotham Knights has been cancelled. To make the dual deals possible there will be budget cuts that include reducing the number of series regular cast members. Superman & Lois has 12 series regulars, Deadline hears the leads are not expected to be affected but supporting cast members will likely be. (Speeding up the decision is the fact that cast options are set to expire this week.)Additionally, the CW is likely to share some library streaming rights to Superman & Lois, which is now available on Max. “We are thrilled to bring All American: Homecoming and Superman & Lois back to The CW,” said Brad Schwartz, President of Entertainment, The CW Network, in a statement. “ These series are two of our strongest performers across our linear and digital platforms with some of the most passionate fanbases in all of television. We are grateful to our partners at Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Productions for their continued collaboration, and we cannot wait to get started on the new seasons.”

Obviously Clark, Lois, Jon and Jordan ain't going anywhere.
I fully expect them to get rid of Kyle. I could even see the Cushings going.
John and Nat may well be send away too.
Bruno Mannheim is 100% gone.
I can see the regular cast going from 12 like in S3 to no more than 7 tops. The Kent's and Grneral Lane being 5. With possibly Lana and Chrissy and or Sarah. I can see John and Nat being downgraded to recurring.
I'll take 10 episodes than none at all.

I've changed the title of this thread to match the news.
I must say that I'm glad to hear this. I would hate to see this excellent show go.
To the surprise of absolutely no one. The ratings this show was getting were horrible. As talented as Misha Collins is, he couldn't carry it all by himself.
I guess this was to be expected. A compromise had to be made.
No doubt they'll keep Tyler Hoechlin (Clark), Bitsie Tulloch (Lois), Alex Garfin (Jordan), Michael Bishop (Jonathan), and Dylan Walsh (Sam Lane). All the others will no doubt be the ones on the chopping block.
I agree. Champagne for all.

Considering I don't drink alcohol really it would have to be a soft drink for me or maybe one glass of martini and lemonade or half a pint of cider otherwise in celebration then.
Anyway, am glad to see S&L got renewed as that show had been on longer than Gotham Knights and was more popular with people I.e. more viewership of course.
Like others, I expect folks like Kyle will be written out most likely killed in this season's finale being a hero saving someone. Sarah's sister would be another person to go and if Lana or Chrissy both stay then Sarah, John, and Natalie could be the ones who reoccur from S4 on.
Misha being a talented actor will find other work soon so he won't be unemployed for long.

I have a feeling a few things may now happen. So just spit balling here.
Kyle almost certainly being killed off. Chrissy downgraded to recurring or guest along with General Lane. John and Natalie will move to Metropolis to be closer to his sister, never to be seen again except maybe a guest appearance in the final episode? Then Clarke, Lois, Jon, Jordan, Sarah and Lana remain the regulars.

Looks like General Lane will be totally written out. Dylan Walsh's wife confirmed it. He's too expensive and turned down a recurring role of 3/10 episodes. I wonder what other changes we'll seem. I expect Chrissy will go back to be recurring like she was in S1. But if Kyle survives S3 perhaps he and Chrissy relocate together start a new life. I somewhat feel like they won't get rid of Lana and Sarah. I feel outside of the Kent family, they two are too important and have the most screening and story.

Be sad to see General Lane go but can understand why if Dylan is too expensive to have on obviously.
The family will miss Gramps but hopefully, keep in touch with him if Sam's not killed off.
I wonder if the VFX effects the show uses will be downgraded as well due to budget constraints then?

Hopefully he'll be like Lucy and they can keep in touch, since Lucy was mentioned and we heard her voice in an episode earlier this season via phone.
I do wonder. Maybe the VFX won't be affected if instead they'll save budget money by cutting back on cast to save more money for sets and VFX. I see why the episode count went from 13 to 10 again cost saving.

Him not coming back might have just saved John Henry from the axe, they'll need someone to run the DOD now?
Also this could be why the renewal took so long, they were trying to hash out different cast deals. I wonder when we'll get more confirmations...

I have a hunch we'll learn more once S3 wraps airing in a few weeks. Yeah John Henry and Natalie may have just been spared.
I can see Chrissy and Kyle getting the axe.
The regular cast for S3 is currently 12. I can see them trimming it down to no more than 7-8.

deadline.com/2023/06/superman-amp-lois-dylan-walsh-emmanuelle-chriqui-michael-cudlitz-promoted-regular-1235417430/The CW’s Superman & Lois has set the returning cast for the recently picked up 10-episode fourth season, with four of the 12 Season 3 series regulars coming back amid budget cuts. Departing as series regulars are Dylan Walsh, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Erik Valdez, Inde Navarrette, Wolé Parks, Tayler Buck and Sofia Hasmik, Deadline has learned. Five of them had been on the show from the start, Walsh, Chriqui, Valdez, Parks and Navarrette. The hope is for the septet to guest star/recur next season, reprising their roles, subject to interest on their part and availability. Returning for Season 4 are Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch as the title characters, fellow series regulars Michael Bishop and Alex Garfin as their children as well as Michael Cudlitz who plays Lex Luthor, sources tell Deadline. Introduced this season as a guest star, the Southland alum is being promoted to a series regular for Season 4. (Chad L. Coleman had a season-long S3 series regular arc). Warner Bros. Television, which produces Superman & Lois with studio-based Berlanti Productions, declined comment.

I think the speculation that they'll move back to Metropolis is likely true. Everyone is gone but our Kent's and Lex in S4.
It's an easy way to explain where the rest of the cast is.
Maybe this is how they saved money. Nothing will be affected with VFX if they cut costs with over half the cast gone.

That's three quarters of the cast. Only the Kent's will be left.
Guess this is a compromise we'll have to accept.
