I think what puts me off starting discussion is that right now no-one seems to want to talk about anything but what we all mostly have in common, which is Charmed. I feel like I've replied on threads and no-one else will talk back, meaning discussion comes to an immediate halt. Its extremely disheartening to be excited and begin talking about something only for no-one to answer and continue the thread. I'm not sure what to suggest really. From what I can see we have a lot of guests most days, I do wonder why they don't decide to join, I'm going to guess its the lack of discussion. So I think if maybe we all make a proper effort and actually join in with the discussions, even if maybe we don't have much of an interest in what is being spoken of, it would generate more traffic for the site and maybe more people would be inclined to join. But here's the thing, we ALL should be trying to do this, because if its only three people, what good will it do? Well, I was 100% into discussing Pokémon with you in that thread, and even gave a good reply to your post. Problem, though, is that you never replied back, so what else could I do? You've also said that you're into Britney Spears. I was a huge fan of her back in the day, and I'd love to discuss her (and pop music in general) with you. But, again, both of us have to be 100% into it. You did pretty much hit the nail on the head, Adam, though. Most people here aren't willing to talk about anything besides Charmed, because they don't think they have anything else in common. Thus, the rest of the board collects dust, members who aren't interested in Charmed (like Tess and Cerberus) stay away, and activity drops off. It seems that the first major step to improving the site is to start branching out from Charmed and looking for common ground elsewhere. It doesn't need to be another TV show, just something that can generate good discussion. Surely members here have more things in common with each other besides a single TV show? Maybe I could start a thread where we all share things that we're currently interested in.

That's a good idea, Betty. Find the interests of the other posters here and build on that. Chances are that one or more of us have the same thing in common and might not realize it.
We need to move on from just Charmed. That show ended more than a decade ago and there is really nothing new to discuss in relation to it.

We need to move on from just Charmed. That show ended more than a decade ago and there is really nothing new to discuss in relation to it. That's why I mentioned starting a thread where members list what they're interested in. Not just TV shows, but whatever they can think of. It might help people learn about other members and get to know them beyond Charmed fandom. And, while this is merely a suggestion and nobody has to do it if they don't want to, it may not also be a bad idea for those with Charmed avatars to replace them with avatars for other things they like. Adam, for example, is using a Britney Spears avatar. My current avatar is of Lance from Pokémon. Just doing that much would also help members learn more about each other and relate to each other in ways besides Charmed.

Yes I think that's a great idea Betty, it will help us all see what we're each interested in. And I'd love to discuss music and Pokemon and things like that so I think I'll make more of an effort to make some new threads.

I also think it's good idea asking people what they like doing and make up threads on that.
My interests include music, watching tv and movies, writing stories, reading books although I don't do enough of that really, going to the cinema and ten pin bowling to name a few things.
I can understand why people don't comment on here regulary as other people have said already English is not some people's first language or they have real lives which take prescident over this like Jana for instance who comments here mainly at the weekends.
Then not everyone likes the same television programmes other people do or were born in earlier eras to comment really like Tim because some members are younger aged unless they watched those with their parents/grand parents growing up obviously.
Been born in 1980 there are very few programmes I know of or watched pre that year bar what my parents used to watch hence why I haven't commented on some programmes from the 50's, 60's and 70's obviously except Doctor Who or original Star Trek say and unless I have something to tell or say or somebody posts a interesting comment I probably won't discuss anything then although I have added a few tv programmes like Smallville, Sherlock and Stargate Atlantis seeing if anyone's interested in them.

As most of you may know, my interest is Science Fiction, in particular Star Trek and Doctor Who. I also enjoy the superhero TV shows like Supergirl and the Flash.
As for books, I like H.P. Lovecraft, of course (today is the 80th Anniversary of his death, BTW). And more modern authors like Stephen King.
My interests include Imperial Russia, particularly the ill-fated reign of Nicholas II.

And I'd love to discuss music and Pokemon and things like that so I think I'll make more of an effort to make some new threads. Sure thing, Adam. Music and Pokémon are both things I'm really interested in right now, so I could easily get into those kinds of discussions. I'm also really big into the Sims right now, if there's anyone else here who plays those games. One reason I haven't been posting much at the forums lately is because I just haven't been into watching TV lately. I've grown tired of Charmed (haven't watched an episode in ages), and I'm just not interested in most new TV shows. PLL is the only current TV show I even follow, and it's ending this year. More and more of my "TV viewing" is becoming dominated by webshows on YouTube, such as the Channel Awesome reviewers. I've also been really into urban exploration videos on YouTube lately. Anyone else here big into webshows? I'm almost tempted to create a new subcategory for online-exclusive series. I don't think it's a bad idea to expand the site beyond traditional TV, especially in this day and age. I also think it's good idea asking people what they like doing and make up threads on that. My interests include music, watching tv and movies, writing stories, reading books although I don't do enough of that really, going to the cinema and ten pin bowling to name a few things. This goes along with what I'm thinking, Katherine. A lot of the younger generation simply doesn't watch TV the "old fashioned" way anymore. Younger people are increasingly turning to online content over network or cable TV, and I bet there's quite a few people like me who follow lots of current webshows but very few current TV shows. It seems like the only kinds of TV shows that get huge buzz online nowadays are big genre series, such as The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Supernatural, Sherlock, Doctor Who, and anything with a superhero. All shows that are either franchises or have franchise potential. Sitcoms and primetime dramas generate a lot less interest online, as most people watch those simply to be entertained and don't invest in them on a fandom level. (To bring up a recent example, just look at how quickly Two & a Half Men has been forgotten since it ended, and it spent years as one of the highest-rated shows in the US. TV shows like that just don't have any staying power. People watch them for mindless entertainment and then move on to the next thing.)

Creating a sub forum for online shows could a good thing certainly what with there being Amazon and Netflix.
And as you said Betty quite a lot of people watch programmes on Youtube and Dailymotion which possibly might be another thing to consider if you want to get new members obviously.
I wonder if anyone here likes Japenese Anime or anime in general which might be another idea for a thread perhaps.
I love Studio Ghibi which I have all their films except the last one of course.
And lastly maybe more cartoons anyone watches or ones from people's childhoods which other's have in common also.
If not I do like certain aspects of history like the Greek Gods, tudors and Queen Victoria to name a few era's actually.

All those topics sound very interesting. As for the TV thing, I watch TV shows, but I don't think I've physically watched any of those shows on an actual TV in YEARS. I watch everything online because in the UK all the shows I like are either on awkward, hard to get channels or scheduled for a stupid time of night that I'm usually in bed for, or I have to wait months for them to air here, and I aint about that life, I need to see them as soon as they air so as not to miss out. Patience has never been one of my virtues

Nostalgia for childhood cartoons tends to be big online, as well as love for more adult cartoons (like the Simpsons, Beavis & Butthead, and South Park). All those topics sound very interesting. Patience has never been one of my virtues That's how I am, too. I also despise commercials, and it's way easier to get away from them online. Plus, you can actually pick what you want to watch online, rather than have a network choose for you. Too many of the networks nowadays are overloaded with reality crap and just aren't worth watching.

Interesting Betty, that you and Adam mostly watch shows online. Of course, you both being of the Millennial generation, you two came of age when all this was starting. Me, I still watch TV the old fashioned way. Probably because, when I was your ages, there was no online stuff. It was old TV and nothing but. Nice to see this board come to life. We're doing great, everybody

Oh Lord tell me about it, I switched on the TV a few weeks ago and was greeted by a most horrific site, shows about those Kardashian twits followed by Toddlers in Tiaras (What even is this) and then something about housewives, no thank you I'll be sticking to my real shows.
Commercials (we call them adverts in the UK) are just....eurgh, I've always hated them, I just used to mute the TV and wait for them to finish, sometimes it seems the show has only been back on for five minutes before the adverts start back up again!

Oh God, those Real Housewives Of Blah-Blah shows. Enough, already. What's next, Real Housewives Of Mars!? Yes! That was it! I want to say Real Housewives of Atlanta? It was....interesting. Essentially just a group of drunk women in ball gowns arguing over some non-issue. Then I saw that recently they'd launched a UK version of the show. NOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Real Housewives Of London?
I guess they're gonna hit every city on the planet before they stop this insanity.
