This is SOOOOOO horrible! Whatever progress this country made under Obama WILL be wiped out and then some. The Republic of Gilead may become reality within the next few years. This is not 2000. This is WORSE than 2000.

Oh....fuck! Someone please tell me that this is just a nightmare. I''m gonna wake up soon, right. PLEASE I'm getting Greg Stillson vibes here. Nice going, America, you just elected a man who has NO political experience whatsoever. You think it was bad with Dubya, you ain't seen nothing yet. And it's not just the U.S., we're all gonna suffer when this clown starts a war with Russia or China. And since the GOP retains control of the House and Senate, Trump will have carte blanch all the way. I want George W. Bush back! I can't believe I just said that, but...

I know I was quite surprised when I heard about this just now watching the news.
I didn't want Trump in but there's not much you can do about it so we'll just have to wait and see how he goes then.
He won't officially be inaugurated till January 20th so you've Obama till then at least.
People obviously wanted a hard hitting no-nonsense man to sort America out then which this election's been called the 'American Brexit'.
I wonder if his stance on immigration had a big part to play in him getting in because people don't want any more unwelcomed visitors in prompting any potential attacks?
Well, Trump needed 3 key states to win and he did. Florida, Ohio, and Pennslyvania.

Well I think we all need to wait and see what happens, the British thought the Brexit would ruin the country, on the contrary, it seems to be thriving. For all we know Trump could be a great president, I won't hold my breath but stranger things have happened I guess....

I doubt he'll be a good president, but we'll just have to wait and see what happens. Regardless, he's a perfectly horrible and despicable human being, and I can't understand why anyone would vote for someone that...

Please realize the magnitude of what will happen to women and minorities in the US. With a wingnut radical in the White House, both houses of Congress completely controlled by the Tea Party, and a Supreme Court that will very likely get filled with conservative Justices, the rights of women and minorities will go completely down the toilet.
Roe v Wade will be overturned, Mexicans will be deported, Blacks will be either shot or jailed, and Muslims will be driven out of the country. Our rights are completely gone, and we will have NO way to get them back. It's all over.

Wanna come to Canada now, Betty? Here we have a guy with no political experience being handed the most powerful position on the planet. And since his party controls the House and Senate, there will be no way to rein him in. I'm sure the Ku Klux Klan and other right wing groups are pouring the Champagne even as we speak. They finally got a guy in the White House who shares their views. Is this America of 2016 or Germany of 1933

I wonder if women and minorities will even still have the right to vote by 2020. And, you know that legal abortion and gay marriage are finished. Women will probably also lose the right to have their own credit cards (or own their own property, period), and get ready for the mass deportation of Mexicans and Muslims.
The public has voted to turn the clock back to 1916, and there isn't a single thing that can be done about it. The people who support progress and human rights won't have any power in the government.

I did hear Clinton never rallied in Nebraska which Donald did because she thought that state would stay Democratic for sure.
As some people say don't count your chickens love.

If Roe VS Wade is overturned, abortion will just go underground again. Look at what happened when they tried to ban alcohol in the 1920's. They would be causing more problems than solving. You don't even need to bring up Prohibition as a comparison. That was exactly the case with abortion in the 1950s and 60s. Desperate women either took measures into their own hands with coat hangers, or they went to back alley abortionists who often raped and butchered them. Countless women died from septic shock and other complications, many leaving children behind. The many horror stories from that era are shocking and heartbreaking. THAT is the world that so-called "pro-life" people want to return to.

There are protests springing up in major U.S. cities against Trump's win.
Trump says he wants to bring America together, well, Donald, good luck with that. There are MANY that simply don't trust you, and I can't say I blame them.

Good. It means that people are fighting back instead of giving up and burying their heads in the sand.
There need to be mass protests on Inauguration Day. Let the world know that this is unacceptable.

Oh man, what has America elected this year? I was shocked. I mean, we've been through this before and get now a major deja vu with a different party who plays also on these emotions. They managed to sit in several federal governments already but they don't get anything done. Just block most of the time, at least that's my impression from Thuringia where this party "Alternative for Germany" already is in. They do the same like Donald Trump did, and I'm kinda afraid for the world. And us people!!

Trump won because he knew what demo graphs to go after, Flyover Country, the Bubba Joe's and the Bobbi Sue's. His message was basically "Remember the good old days when white people were in charge of everything. Well, vote for me, and those days will be coming back." And it worked.
Trump is now considering his cabinet. I hear names like Rudy Giuliani, Newt Gingrich, and, God help us, Sarah Palin (rumour has it that she's up for Interior Minister, in charge of hunting and all that, somewhat fitting, I guess)!
