Cobain was one of the few rockers unwilling to sell out.
Yeah, I don't think he would like it much now. Money is the name of the game and creativity is a distant second.

I miss the times where music was still music, handsome and good interpreter. Nowadays, all sounds the same in my eyes. So not funny! Music should inspire and not being taken over by some teens and YouTube.

Kurt Cobain makes me think of all the other hugely talented stars we've lost over the years who went before their time, if only they'd had the help they needed things could have been so different. It's one of the reasons I respect Britney Spears so much, she could have been another Kurt, but she got through it. Thank God.

Like the 27 Club, who's ranks include Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, and, more recently Amy Winehouse.
And they all died of the same cause, drugs and/or alcohol.

I've been listening to Led Zeppelin this week, very random and not a band I'd normally listen to but I've "discovered" them on spotify and I've been climbing up their discography, the Immigrant Song is a favorite for sure. I've read its about norse mythology and vikings, cool!

I've enjoyed their song, Stairway To Heaven, myself.
This is another group that has been around for a long time.

For me, with Led Zepplin A Whole Lotta Love is the song I most associate not only because it's a good anyway but because it was the Top Of The Pops music show theme song which played also when counting down the top 20 charts too.

I wonder if Led Zeppelin will have a reunion next year. 2018 will be their 50th Anniversary, after all.

It's amazing to me how long some of these groups have been around. When people say the 90's or 80's I think 10-20 years ago, but 1980 was almost 40 years ago! HOW?!

Yeah, that amazes me especially with the Pet Shop Boys. I've known since the 1980ies and they're still around. I will always like their classics like 'West End Girls', 'Always on my mind' and so on.

And that's a year I lived in and still remember. Dang young whippersnappers, get off my lawn

I will always remember Status Quo, The Bee Gees Cliff Richard, ABBA and Queen which were my parents people growing up and artists who lasted long times even if some of them are not around anymore.
Say what you will about these people but you do have to commend them lasting long as they did and the appeal they had in their respective era's.

I agree. There are some groups and bands that have literally spanned the generations.

Another band that goes way back.
Mick Fleetwood is also a Star Trek fan. He played an alien on an episode of TNG.
