This was one of my favourite shows growing up. I have fond memories of it. I don't like Game of Thrones at all. It really disturbs me. I will always have a place in my heart for Xena and Hercules from the 90s.
Anyone else seen this or have memories of it?

Sam Raimi made this show, before he made it big with Spider-Man.
I saw a few episodes of Hercules, back in the day.

That's right, isn't Sam Raimi related to Ted Raimi who played Joxer too.
I liked Hercules too, but enjoyed Xena more. And the new Wonder Woman Movie must of got inspired by Xena given her sword and costume looked like something out of Xena. When the older Wonder Woman didn't wear stuff like that from the 70s.

I loved the original movies, I couldn't get into the newer ones. They rebooted it too many times. That's right, isn't Sam Raimi related to Ted Raimi who played Joxer too. I particularly liked Callisto and found her to be one of the most fun and interesting villains.

I recently watched the episode Callisto. One of my favourite episode's and introduces two very important character's Callisto and Joxer.
I really love the way Hudson Leick plays this role. Her portrayal of the character is perfect in my opinion. Callisto is truly one of my favorite villains on television. A person so messed up from her past and yet she hasn't got an inch of humanity left inside. She's totally psychotic, yet somehow the audience feels for her.
My favorite scene for me would be the campfire chat moment. It is also my favourite moment's of season 1. You can see Xena struggling with her past. She wants to share her pain, yet a part of her feels weakness. I loved when Gabrielle demands Xena promises her she won't turn back to her evil ways. Gabrielle is so innocent, and Xena probably wishes she still had that innocense.
I liked the ladder fight at the end, and her delivery of the episode's final line, "The right thing to do thats what they think!" was perfect, setting the stage for her return in the following season.

They always are watered down and are too anti-hero's these days. Me too. Callisto's crazy look always give me the chills. OMG! It just freaks me out. A lot of her looks give the chill factor, but that one takes the cake, it shows just how crazy and troublesome she's going to be. I still don't get Callisto's plan to knock Xena out with the poisoned dart? But I haven't seen the episode in sometime, do you know the answer?

I remember Xena very well and Hercules to whom I watched back in the day and recorded episodes on VHS.
I liked her and Gabrielle's friendship. They had good onscreen chemistry.
I also liked the other characters mentioned up above.
Callisto played by someone who was a good nemsis for Xena. Autulycus the comedic foil played brilliantly by Bruce Campbell. Ares wonderfully meanicing by the late Kevin Smith. RIP. And Aphrodite funny as ever by Alexandra Tydings.
Sam and Ted are brothers so probably why he got a part on the show.
There are a few episodes which stood out for me although I can't remember their names. Callisto and Autolycus's entrances come to mind. The 3 episodes featuring Valasca the Amazon. The one where Xena and Gabrielle are sent to Illusia. Any episode featuring Xena's doopleganger Meg. And the future episode set in the 40's where Renee played the archeologist, Lucy the boffin and Ted the fake Frenchman Jacques S'er amongst other one's obviously.

I also liked the other characters mentioned up above. I was the same, I used to record episodes on VHS. Until I bought the DVDs and loved all the extras, they put so much effort into the commentaries, interviews, deleted scenes and behind the scenes. However they have since re-released the DVDs and the extras are not included. But you can find them on ebay. The friendship was the best on this series. They had the best onscreen chemistry and best relationship between two females on television that were not related. Callisto played by someone who was a good nemsis for Xena. Autulycus the comedic foil played brilliantly by Bruce Campbell. Ares wonderfully meanicing by the late Kevin Smith. RIP. And Aphrodite funny as ever by Alexandra Tydings. Couldn't agree more with all of this. There are a few episodes which stood out for me although I can't remember their names. Callisto and Autolycus's entrances come to mind. The Royal Couple of Thieve's - Autolycus first intorduced Callisto - the episode I recently saw. A Necessary Evil & The Quest for Velasca - the highest rated episodes of the series. All those episodes are some of my favourites too.

I think we are suppose to think that Xena does some real quick detective work and figure that out that since it wasn't one of Talmadeus' men from the previous episode. So, when Xena realises that someone's going around burning villages and killing people in her name, she puts on her detective skills and does some quick thinking, and figures it out. I'm only guessing that Callisto only wanted the dart to put her down for a while, so she can go around doing bad things in Xena's name.

And I can see Callisto doing that to Xena enough to keep her out of the way so she can go on her rampage.

Yeah Callisto would never have a dart that'd kill Xena instantly because she'd want her to suffer for killing her parents, burning down her village and making her the way she become which discrediting her by doing bad things in her name was one of them.

Yeah that's right. I always had this feeling that if Callisto never suffered the death of her parents, she may have well ended up like Gabrielle. I especially liked in A Necessary Evil when Callisto and Gabrielle have a chat at the fire, and Callisto talks about what it would be like if her family died. I think Gabrielle understand her.

I am very curious had she meet Xena a year or two earlier when she was still doing evil things how it would play out.
