Thanks for sharing. I think I remember these on my DVDs sets. I do know they re-released it on DVD without all the wonderful extras. So glad I got mine when I did.

Yeah, they did re-release all the DVDs without any of the wonderful extras. I feel bad for new fans and those who purchase the cheap re-released sets with horrible cover arts. But you can buy the original sets with extras those on eBay I believe.

That's what I thought also that you could buy the original series on eBay with the extras added in.

With plenty of interviews and commentaries. I also like how unlike most shows, they give you a video commentary too, so you can see the actors watching the episodes without just hearing them. I wish more shows did this.

I understand that, for the final season, they jumped forward about 25 years.
Apparently the move was not popular with the fans.

I never saw the final season and so wouldn't know obviously but can certainly assume people felt that way then.

S6 still had plenty of strong episodes, but fans don't like the last three episodes. If you watch S6, stop at episode 18 or 19. I think the subtext fans of Xena/Gabrielle love S6 much more than 5.
It's pretty conflicted some people like it and some people hate it.

So just avoid the final episodes then.
What is it with many good shows giving the audience horrible series finales?

So just avoid the final episodes then. What is it with many good shows giving the audience horrible series finales? Ain't that the truth Tim. So many shows get horrible final episodes. And most of the season finales the season before or earlier make better endings. It seems writers work better under pressure when they think a show will be canceled and this might be the last season, then when they know ahead of time. Charmed's seventh season finale, Xena's fourth or fifth season finale.

That is so true. I know that Charmed fans would have much preferred that the show had ended with S7.
I get the impression that Xena fans would have been happy had the show ended before the jump forward in time.

I get the impression that Xena fans would have been happy had the show ended before the jump forward in time. Exactly right Tim. Well, it appears Xena is getting a reboot after all, just not on television but in a comic book. On February 14 2017, Dynamite Entertainment launches a new Xena series by writer Meredith Finch and artist Vicente Cifuentes. While NBC's anticipated reboot faltered, Finch and Cifuentes are less than two months away from bringing the Thracian warrior back into the public eye. Finch, who came to prominence writing DC Comics' Wonder Woman series, is an admitted Xena fan going back to her 1995 debut. Despite her devotion to the now classic character, Finch was able to critically re-assess it here and now to understand Xena's previous popularity, and what could make her popular again in today's landscape. (And yes, Xena's relationship with Gabrielle is still a major crux of the franchise.) Finch spoke with Newsarama about bridging from Xena fan to Xena writer, understanding the character's path from villain to hero, and comparing this warrior princess to a certain Amazon. Early comic designs (Black and White early stage art) ISSUES Vol. 2 Issue 2 - March 2018 ON SALE DATE: 3/14 Tension mounts as Xena and Gabrielle make their way to Athens and a reaction to an unexpected circumstance could separate our two unlikely companions just as their journey has begun. Vol. 2 Issue 1 - February ON SALE DATE: 2/14 The path to redemption is never easy, and the journey of a warrior princess seeking to wash the blood of innocents from her hands is no exception. Xena travels to Athens, to plead for redemption in the temple of Eleos. But some things can never be forgiven and the shadows of past sins are long. Will Xena find redemption or betrayal waiting for her in the temple of the gods? The power, the passion, the danger... her courage would change the world. Xena: Warrior Princess.
