I thought I would create this thread here because there's been talk on the introduction page about our newest members posting any stories they've written which I wanted to repsond to but thought that wasn't the page to comment on plus the fact one of them used to write in script format and whatnot I figured we could use this page to give out ideas, tips or links to any websites which could help others also who might be lacking encouragement, ideas or inspiration etc and talk about story writing in general and how people got into it. So if anyone has any comments please feel free to post them. Okay so for me I never started story writing till I was 24/25. I had the ideas in my head but lacked the knowledge to do them because english wasn't my favored or best subject at school obviously. I wrote things in story format because punctuation and me didn't go hand in hand. I was getting comments from people saying how they prefered things in book format and how some couldn't understand what I was saying. They gave me tips on what to do and suggested websites which helped with punctuation, paragraphing, sentance structuring, beta reading and descriptive writing that helped me greatly and got me by a number of years actually. Then came grammarly which I discovered and joined earlier this year and have not looked back on because it's helped me so much and is something I can do online correcting on the go without having to upload everything first and go through that which's a pain obviously as the website saves what you do anyway so for anyone looking for a place to write which helps at the same time I highly recommend that. www.grammarly.com

I've been writing Fan Fiction since around 1980 or so, a pretty long time. A lot of the Fan Fiction here comes from me, mostly because of my Charmed spin-off series, The Rex and Hannah Chronicles. However, there are other talented authors here, such as melindahalliwell, WyattChris and Adzpower. Each of them have written, and are writing still, their own unique Charmed spin-off series. Yes, much of the Fan Fiction is based on Charmed because all of us are, or were at one time, Charmed fans. However, there are other Fan Fictions here as well. I'm a Doctor Who fan, and all my Who Fan Fics can be found here as well. Most of us also have profiles at FanFiction.net, here is a thread containing those links. You can write your stories either in story or script format here, either is acceptable. That is one thing you can't do at FF.net, write a story in script format. I have no idea why that rule is there, but it is. However, we have less restrictive rules here, so let your creative juices run wild.

I have quite a lot stories at fanfiction.net which are script formatted and have not being taken down yet or message posted about that actually.
I most say quite a lot of my stories are from actual episodes of Charmed and Smallville but done a little differently to fit what I'm writing and do have either an original character or characters or people crossed over from another show or ones who weren't in the episide originally.
I'm in the middle currently of writing a Smallville story based of, of the season 7 episode Siren obviously.

Sometimes I just connect with certain characters that no one else seemingly does. Rex and Hannah, or Vince Hawkins, for me, for example.
Does anyone else have a minor character from a show or movie that they liked?

Ah Forrest Gump yes. That was a good movie.
For me I'm not sure about minor characters in movies because I have about 10 or 11 favourite films so it's hard for me to choose any really.
Same with TV shows also though there are a few Charmed characters I wouldn't mind reading up on more like Max the witch, Drake Daemon, Aviva from The Fourth Sister or season 2 Cupid seeing what happened to them since or any prequel stories about them before they came on the show.

I'm writing since I was at university. First little stories with changing minor things, later more complex. Tim does know them best since he read all. lol But this is my own Charmed-esque universe, meaning I orientate myself at the show but let it go on differently.

Yep, you have Chris's story continuing into Seasons Seven and Eight. Something that the show SHOULD have done, IMO.

Besides, I have a policy: First writing, then typing and then publishing slowly chapter by chapter - once the story is finished!!

I do the same thing. I write the story, then I proofread and edit, when necessary. Finally, I post it.

For me, I write my stories using Grammarly before posting them which I may've mentioned previously.
That proofreads, punctuates, and sentence structures all in one which I can do right then depending on the mood or in segments othwerise as the application saves work ongoing automatically.

Yeah, the lot I've got so far with "Daddy's Home", I've been proofreading each time before I continue writing on.

Which saves happening to do it all at the end.

It's always good to proofread your stories. Of course, sometimes errors do sneak through. It's happened to me a number of times.
