Yeah, I'm glad that Peanuts thing didn't happen. Mr. Schultz was smart to make sue that his creation would be protected, when he was no longer with us. Good thing.

I wonder who owns the rights to the Archie characters. Since Archie was created in 1941, I would assume that the original owner is long dead. However, does this owner have any living heirs?

Or the lawyers of the heirs. Whoever they may be.

Well, it says on Wikipedia that Archie Comics Publications Inc owns the title and that Maurice Coyne, Louis Silberkleit, and John L. Goldwater founded it in 1939 so perhaps they have some family living around now maybe.

No doubt all long since dead.
And no doubt these people had to give Riverdale their okay.
Had they refused, I think the series still would have happened. From what I have seen, you could drop the whole Archie thing entirely and still have the same show.

That's true. I imagine they can't do crossovers at all unless Riverdale moves to Netflix. They can only do a one-off special that is separate from both shows.

That is what CW originally wanted to do with last years Arrowverse crossover, it is a standalone special and not aired during all the show's season. Maybe Netflix or CW will decide to do a one-off crossover this way.

Unless lawyers get involved. No the crossover will happen then.

Since Riverdale and Sabrina will be on two different services, negotiations will have to take place before a crossover can happen. That could be complicated.

It would be. I'm sure fans can have fun with Fanfic crossovers.

That's true. Since Fan Fiction is non-profit, the lawyers can't touch them.
So you Riverdale/Sabrina fans out there, have at it!

I'm sure Fan Fiction writers are getting ready even as we speak.
Of course, the new Sabrina hasn't started yet, so they're gonna have to wait.
